4.5Niagara Glen Nature Areas(850 reviews) - Genuine Nature experience minutes from the Falls Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Hiking Trails
I was AMAZED by this place! Not much new ever happens at Niagara having visited over many years, but had not seen this before. Wow. Beautiful hiking trails right down to the rivers edge, multiple routes (suggest getting a paper map or downloading, there are a lot of interconnected trails.) Took some friends from Sweden here, they loved the hiking and access to the water, it helped that we had a gorgeous fall day, and entry was FREE! Not crowded, lots of nature and away from the tourist hustle(s). A couple notes, some of the trails a bit rugged, with elevation change of maybe 60 metres, might be a tough walk in flip flops or quite slippery if raining. My wife has replacement knees, so stayed at the top, but also enjoyed a couple walking trails and wildlife photography. I would suggest 1-2 hours.See more..

Picked up some take out from our favorite NotL restaurant, Niagara's Finest Thai, and ate al fresco waterside enjoying the cool breezes off the river even though it was an extremely hot day. 4.5Cup and Saucer Trail(314 reviews) - Great hike and great view!! Hiking Trails
What an awesome trail! I was a bit nervous about taking my boys (ages 11 and 13) because of the cliffs based on some of the other reviews. I was also a bit nervous that the trail wouldn’t be well marked. But I was wrong on both accounts. The red trail was very well marked and truly a pleasure to hike. The view at the top was beautiful and I highly recommend this trail to anyone looking for a moderate work out. Very doable if you wear running shoes or boots and can handle a bit of physical exertion. I did come across a couple people who were struggling, but overall I saw a lot of people of all ages managing it well. Total length of the red loop was 5 km.See more..

Even though the trail markers confused me it was hard to get lost on these pathways. Some areas can handle wheel chairs. Some areas require a bit of rock scramble. Beautiful variety of trees in these Halton Hills. Plenty of parking, gate security and reservations restrict numbers so it is so very peaceful.See more..
Ran thru this place the other day, it is located on Bloor Street in Whitby near the Ajax border. It's a pay and display location, and not dog friendly. Before social distancing it was great for picnics, nature walks, etc, if you had small children this was the place to take them. Now with COVID-19 the latrines are closed, the parking lot is packed, and there are much too many folks there. There is a pokemon gym at the entrance, and no Wi-Fi.See more..
4.5Duchesnay Falls Trails(216 reviews) - So Worth the Time! Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
We always saw lots of cars on the side of Hwy 17 and finally had a chance to see what it was all about. We were not disappointed. The trails are clear and easy to hike. So glad we explored beyond the first falls we saw. The is so much MORE further up the trail. Be sure to hike at least as far as the iron bridge so you see both sides of the river as it branches and offers many larger falls of power rushing water as well as tree lined sections of babbling brooks. We will be sure to return in the fall!!See more..

4.5Georgian Trail(145 reviews) - Great long trail for biking running and walking Hiking Trails
We biked the Georgian Trail between Collingwood and Thornbury, a round trip of approximately 40 kms. It is a hard-packed gravelly surface that was once a rail line, and is virtually flat until the approach into Thornbury. Never crowded, but always wide enough to accommodate bikers and walkers going in opposite directions. Generally passing through forested areas and some agricultural and residential areas. It makes for a relaxing ride if desired, or a speedy straightaway for the more energetic rider or runner.See more..

4.0Komoka Provincial Park(90 reviews) - Great provincial park! Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Best park in London! With the Ontario Parks annual pass in hand (or hanging on the rearview mirror :) we visit this park probably once a month. It has a few easy trails, runs along the river and features a few really nice spots to go down to the river bank. The park is enjoyable in every season, but be aware of the trails getting quite muddy and slippery in the spring months. Excellent spot to watch birds and, if you are lucky, spot a deer or two. On occasion, people on bikes use the trail so make sure to share it respectfully.See more..

A first hike for seniors I would recommend giving yourself 4 hours to accomplish and the trail is during dry conditions.See more..

For our 22nd wedding anniversary I decided that I wanted to hike, something we can do while we are still physically able (late 40's here). I picked centennial ridges as recommended by majority on social media. It did not disappoint! Where we are in Ontario we don't really have mountains so I did not expect it to be steep climb. There are some hills enough to keep your blood pumping and a good 11 km hike.Very busy that day but the area is big enough to share with everyone we didn't feel crowded. There are so many places where you can stop to eat, drink and enjoy the view. It took us a little under 4 hours from start to finish with all the stops. It was a nice hike it satisfied my 'hike cravings'. There was a lot of "I" because the hike was mainly my idea. My husband and son were forced to do it with me. But at the end they were glad they hiked it too.See more..

There is plenty of free parking @ The Cultural Centre on Bobcaygeon St. just steps from the entrance to the boardwalk which is marked by a high derrick. The boardwalk crosses a marsh and is badly in need of repairs. Squares of wood have been nailed down to cover rotting planks. I believe fund raising is in progress. By following the board walk, you come out at the river walk. The River walk is picturesque and well maintained with a couple of bridges crossing the Gull River, colourful flowers and fall leaves- a photo op and a serene way to get a bit of exercise. There are some sculptures closer to downtown.See more..
4.5Algonquin Provincial Park(41 reviews) - Great Hiking Trails Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Went with my family and had a fantastic time! We hiked the Beaver Pond Trail, Spruce Bog Boardwalk Trail, Bat Lake Trail, The Lookout Trail, and Mizzey Lake Trail. The streams, beaver ponds, bogs, hills, and lakes were beautiful, along with the abunance of small water falls throughout the park. The views from elevated places, such as the top of The Lookout Trail were incredible. Heard about people seeing animals like bears, moose, and wolves here, but I only saw a herd of White-Tailed Deer and a Pileated Woodpecker. Trails were great and well maintained, except for the Mizzey Lake Trail which was muddy after a storm the night before, we had to create bridges over deep puddles with sticks. Didn't bother me as an outdoors person, as I think it just added to the experience. Overall, 5/5 experience, and I would highly recommend heading to Algonquin Provincial Park for some outdoor adventures!See more..

There is parking at the trailhead for a few cars. We didn’t need snowshoes as the trail was packed but we had cleats as it was slippery in places. I regularly walk my dog on the spur portion of the trail which goes into Port McNicoll. Have walked other parts of it as well in all seasons although it is not cleared in the winter. Most of the trail is flat and the pavement is well maintained. Early this spring a small bridge near Triple Bay Road was closed as it needed repair and although not currently repaved it was opened in time for the busy season. Lots of cyclists of all ages and levels use the trail. Dog walkers must have the dogs leashed. There are spectacular views of the water on the main trail and in the spring one will see many turtles laying their eggs in the graveled area beside the trail. There is a sign describing the turtles you may see and volunteers place cages over the nests to protect them from predators. Watch for the hatching babies in the early fall. You may also see a variety of ducks, heron and Trumpeter swans.See more..
