We had rented a boat for a weekend and when we arrived at our Airbnb, the dock from the pictures wasn't there. We were to pick up the boat the next morning with nowhere to dock the boat. When I called to cancel it was within 24 hours of pick up so by rules, I was to lose the complete boat rental order. Jill was very understanding and accommodating in making our vacation better. Instead of charging us full price, she only charged the deposit as let us use that money towards rending a floating pad so we could have some sort of "dock" at our cottage rental. We will use them again on our next visit and would recommend them to anyone looking to add some fun to their holidays.See more..
Although we have some boating experience, this was our first trip on a houseboat. Rob and Heather made the trip effortless. The Navionics provided made navigation of the locks and lakes a breeze. The boat operated with ease. We took the smallest houseboat available (L'ill Hobo) and it filled all our needs (two of us, plus medium sized dog). One warning for those looking to take their pet with them - at times it may be difficult to find docking on land, requiring you to moor at a buoy or anchor and swim your dog to land to do his business. Also, our sole complaint on our trip - restaurants on the Rideau will not accept dogs. One exception to this was The Cove in Westport, they gladly allowed Beau to join us on their spacious patio.See more..
Just returned from a six days solo fishing trip on Quetico Provincial Park. Fishing was terrific, scenery stuningly beatifull, lakes pristine and wildlife incredible and abundant. Nevertheless, the most memorable aspect of this trip was meeting Doug Chapman. Doug, the owner of Canadian Quetico Outfitters, has a contagious positive attitude and the willingness to help others. Also, he has all the knowledge and experience necessary to do it. Doug provided all the transfers, permits, foods, camping and canoe gear for that trip. Everything was top-notch. Just fantastic. This was our 3rd Le Boat experience. We have travelled the Canal de Midi, the Shannon River and now the Rideau Canal. David, our segway riding staff member who gave us our welcome briefing, was a pleasure to meet. The boat was in excellent condition and very comfortable, may be a bit of TLC on some of the insect screens would be good. The charts were easy to read, and we had plenty of information about the locks and towns available. We met so many lovely people on our 12 days, saw so much beautiful scenery. We didn't want it to end. Lock staff were friendly and helpful and could tell us if, where we wanted to spend the night, was busy and would ring ahead to let the mooring place know our plans. This place is absolutely outstanding! It is extremely customer service driven. The owner Steve is extremely helpful, friendly and cares about people. Its very clean and has an easy going, laid back feeling to it. Makes you feel like you're away in the Caribbean... that open door feeling, with water sport toys (seadoos/boats/lied jackets/docks, etc). We rented a seadoo and had a great time. The seadoos are all new and work very well. Well worth the cost, which is in our opinion very reasonable. This is going to be a place we come back to, time and time again! 5.0Ontario Wilderness Houseboat Rentals(2 reviews) - Enjoyable week on LOTW Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Boat Rentals My wife, daughter and boyfriend, and I spent a very enjoyable week on Lake of the Woods in an OWHR houseboat. Communication and planning was made easy by Crissy's quick and helpful email responses and we enjoyed a complimentary upgrade to a larger houseboat as one was available for our dates. Terry did a great job, before leaving the dock, of making us comfortable with the operation and navigation of the houseboat and it met all our needs and operated flawlessly. It was just "icing on the cake" that we enjoyed wonderful weather, had a beautiful display of the northern lights and caught enough fish, including two first-time muskie catches. See more..
The Rideau Canal waterway is a World Heritage Site. The canal is maintained using the 19th Century locks it opened with, and is staff by helpful people. Waterways' boats are not the fanciest boats you will find on the water but are reasonably priced, well equipped and being somewhat shallower in draft than the fancier vessels able to got to places the larger more deluxe boats can not. The owners were great to work with, took time to show us through the boat and give a basic lesson on handling the vessel. As pontoon boats with lots of freeboard they can be a challenge to handle but Don one of the owners takes you out and does a part lesson part road test. I would not hesitate to rent from them again even though the boats are simpler the challenges of handling them in the lock were fun and easily mastered.See more..
