For those who, like me, come from Italy, looking for and finding a Catholic church for the Sunday celebration is important. Finding an imposing but at the same time welcoming cathedral is even more beautiful. Its history is interesting and the fact that, according to the indications of the city, it must be visible throughout Guelph, must be even more a source of pride for the city.See more..

4.0Kirkfield Lift Lock(34 reviews) - The liftlocks Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Last week I went here with my family (including 3 grandchildren). It is a very impressive engineering feat. This is the second highest liftlock in the world at 49' after the Peterboro one at 65'. It's like 2 large bathtubs balanced on a scale. When one goes up, the other drops. Very simple idea, but we'll engineered, especially for 1907. Details of the lift locks are described in the signage and it is fascinating to watch. The change of the locks is quick (about 2 minutes) but with loading/unloading the boats the cycle is about 10 minutes. Sit on the grass or picnic tables and watch a few cycles. The cost is only $2 per car for parking (bring roomies or loonies). Well worth the visit and adults and children will both enjoy it.See more..
I was new to Collingwood - when a dear friend passed away in Port Perry. It was January 4th the day she passed - terrible weather - I was unable to drive to her funeral. Her funeral was at 1 p.m. on a weekday. I called the Anglican church and they would not let me go in to light a candle as the funeral was taking place in Port Perry. ( I wanted to share in the service by being in a church at the same time as her funeral ) I then went to the Catholic church - they opened the doors for me - and told me I could stay as long as I wanted. I then understood what a true spiritual place this Church was - and have returned to St Mary's on a number of occasions. Thank you again for showing such kindness at a time when I was grief-stricken. I am forever grateful !!!See more..

Guardian Angels Church is a very beautiful landmark located close to downtown Orillia. I particularly enjoy the view of the church when either I'm out ice fishing on Lake Couchiching, or out late on the lake in our boat in summer. The church steeple really stands out, especially at night when its cross is illuminated, standing out like a beacon of hope on Orillia's skyline. A compelling sight. But the church is also a living institution as I attend mass their regularly. A Saturday evening mass at 5 pm, or Sunday morning (choice of three), ensures there is a mass time convenient for you. Father Cyruk and Deacon Stong deliver excellent sermons that are relevant and topical. The new musical coordinator has taken the organ / choir productions up a notch as well. Take a moment from your busy schedule and check out Guardian Angels church, either for its architectural magnificence, or its patron friendly services.See more..

4.5Old St Thomas Church(18 reviews) - Wow! What a great historic building and in great shape! Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
We attended a summer evening concert here. It was lovely to take a step back in time and listen to some great music. This building has very limited electric lighting, so when the concert was over it was already dark. What a feeling to step back in time! Also, no indoor plumbing available :)See more..

I have many memories of St. Peter's Anglican Church in Cobourg, Ontario from the late 1950's through the 1960's. I attended services there with my parents and brother when I was younger and into my teens. I was also an active Boy Scout in the St. Peter's Regiment and represented the church and town at the 1967 Boy Scout Jamboree in Couer d'alene Idaho. Many good memories and values learned.See more..

St. Paul's is acrtoss the street from Gage Park, and City Hall. It is an open church about the same age as the house across the street. The elders of the church are quite open to assisting new Bramptonians and the church itself is open to visitors. 4.5First Presbyterian Church(6 reviews) - An attractive church Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
When I left the Brockville Courthouse, I noticed a lovely church. It was standing out! Curious, I explored it. The church was closed, like all the other churches, but we could admire the outside and it was quite attractive. It had 4 towers. The entrance was quite attractive as well. It's quite historic! There was a sign telling about the service on Sundays and they added "Everyone was welcome". After all, the people of Brockville are quite nice! Too bad that it wasn't Sunday. Hopefully next time we can visit it.See more..

5.0Marylake Augustinian Monastery(5 reviews) - A Hidden Gem Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
I happen to live not to far away from the Monastery, and during the summers, I usually ride close by. I decided to visit it with the intent to take some pictures of it and the surrounding areas late in the summer of 2019. The place is very Holy and you are welcomed to walk the grounds and visit the main building. While I was there, there was an afternoon prayer session, and it was wonderful to hear it going on. I was very respectful not to take any pictures of the mass, but had taken some images prior to it starting. I would recommend this visit - either to enjoy the buildings and grounds or to spend time in a Holy place.See more..

Whenever I passed the Lakemount Worship Centre at the QEW, I wondered what it would be like inside. Finally I stopped here and enjoyed myself. The edifice looked quite attractive. Once we entered we saw a lot of people. They had a coffee shop and many rooms for children. The service started with worship. The band was very good and everyone joined in. The words of the lyrics were broadcasted on a screen. Their moto was: “Refreshing”. That was cool! They had a duo, a man and a wife to share the sermon. They were invited to come here. They were quite good. They made us laugh and the message was quite powerful. I enjoyed my time here. Everyone was very friendly and we learned a lot. I was impressed.See more..
In both history and architecture. If you have a love of fine classic buildings..here is your spot! I have sat and drawn this building several times in my life. The peace and serenity that come from being in this buildings presence brings you somewhere in your mind to a day when everybody was thankful for what they had. If you belong to a Christian faith, or not, this is a building artistic and history students alike should venture to. See more..

4.5First Baptist Church(3 reviews) - A FINE EXTERIOR Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
I liked the look of this church as much as any in Brockville. It dates from 1844. It is located in the southeastern corner of the Court House Green. It was locked so I could not see the interior.See more..
The church dates from 1856. The doors were open. Fans were whirring on a very humid day. One person was praying so I sat at the back to take in the church. The 14 Stations of the Cross were noted. At the back was a version of La Pieta. The stained glass was colourful. Its ceiling had a Gothic look, the paint scheme mostly white with gold trim.See more..

Went for the church tour during the summer. Highly recommended it! The church is just beautiful and the tour hist Diane Berlet was very helpful. We picked up a copy of her book The Loyalist Tiles of St Alban's and enjoyed seeing the rare Loyalist Tiles contained within the church. Beautiful architecture. The Anglican Church has been deconsecrated and a not for profit organization Friends of St Alban's Adolphustown runs the summer tours. We wandered the Loyalist cemetery as well. 4.5St. Thomas' Anglican Church(2 reviews) - Quintessential small town church - and a beauty Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
This lovely 1847 church is set in the charming hamlet of Shanty Bay. There aren't any true tourist facilities here, but if you're driving in the area, it's definitely worth a stop. The church's main claim to fame is that it is made of rammed earth - an ancient technique that is making a slight resurgence today. Inside, the stained glass windows are gorgeous. It's not from from the nearby rail trail system, so people can visit here via bicycle as well. There's an old cemetery on the property, as well as beautiful greenspace next door..See more..

4.5St. Matilda Church(2 reviews) - Unity used to be the norm Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins • Churches & Cathedrals
We were told of a church that was quite old. They had changed it as a memorial of this church. The trek to get there was fun. We love walking anyway! The first thing we saw was the dam, splendid as always. Then we found this empty church. it was named Saint Matilda. All the denominations in this town contributed to the building of this church and all denominations worshipped together here with the Catholics. This church was closed eventually in 1876. There was but one tombstone, of a girl of 14 years old. Now all it remains are the founding stones of that former church, built of limestone. It is surrounded by purple flowers and nearby in the lake it is graced with white waterlilies, reminding of purity. I enjoyed finding this remains of this church. I was happy to see that all denominations worked together. The flowers made it even more special!See more..

It’s is quite a beautiful church. It has a tower on the side and the church is quite attractive, thanks to the beautiful stones. It has some gorgeous stained-glass windows as well. I was mesmerized by its history. It has been in existence since 1836. It started with a Wesleyan Methodist Church. In 1871. They added stones at this church. In 1884 it became a Grace Methodist Church. It was destroyed by fire in 1979. It was reopened in 1982. It has now celebrated its 180 years. Wow! I enjoyed the beauty of this church. However, its history was quite interesting as well! Worthwhile to see!See more..
