Just a 45 minute drive from the waterfront in Kingston we went there on a dreary cold an miserable day. What a surprise because the location was absolutely charming. First we viewed the locks and there was a houseboat and day cruiser waiting. It took 20 + minutes for the lock to fill so the boats could pass through to the next lock. There is a 3 rd lock but we didn't go there as it was seperated by a beautiful small bay. There were a number of kayakers and 2 beautiful wooden boats that was tied up next to the hotel. Hotel Kenny has been there 138 years and is absolutely charming. We went in for lunch and saw served a warm pea and mint soup, a main and our choice of a number of home made deserts, all for under $20...what a deal. There are picnic tables, nice landscaping and a snack bar in a seperate building. Had the weather been nice we would have had a terrific picnic there. I'd definitely recommend you spend the time and enjoy this lovely spot.See more..
4.5Thomas Foster Memorial(35 reviews) - The Mini Taj Mahal of Uxbridge Architectural Buildings
At least that was my first impression. However once you step inside you'll see that this building draws from numerous artistic styles and really stands out as something unique and special. From the floor to the roof the detail and artistry is exquisite. My favourite part would have to be the colourful floral motifs stretching up to the central dome. Beautiful! Really glad I took the time to visit this little gem.See more..

As soon as you park, you can get a lovely view of the entire estate and the lake front area as well which is very peaceful and quite. This lovely 1847 church is set in the charming hamlet of Shanty Bay. There aren't any true tourist facilities here, but if you're driving in the area, it's definitely worth a stop. The church's main claim to fame is that it is made of rammed earth - an ancient technique that is making a slight resurgence today. Inside, the stained glass windows are gorgeous. It's not from from the nearby rail trail system, so people can visit here via bicycle as well. There's an old cemetery on the property, as well as beautiful greenspace next door..See more..
