4.5Kal Haven Trail(293 reviews) - Great trail but lots of debris Hiking Trails
We loved walking on the Kal Haven trail. Started in South Haven at the trail head and walked 2.5 miles. Som e of the highlights were walking under bridges, on the boardwalk and over the covered bridge. Very level and even trail. We also drove to Grand Junction and walked a mile on the trail there. Great trail in this area too.. It was sad to see so much garbage laying along the trail in both areas. Hopefully there is a spring clean up planned. Frustrating to see an area that lots of work has been put into for others to use be damaged by peoples' trash.See more..

4.5River Trail(95 reviews) - great place to run! Hiking Trails
We're lucky to have such an extensive urban trail in Lansing, which also has most sections plowed throughout the winter. You can pick up the trail right by Michigan State and get a solid 20 mile run in on it. Its well cared for, and with only a couple of exceptions shielded from the city (meaning, its a beautiful view). there are many spurs to hop on/off the trail. And the trail winds through the zoo, around a beautiful park (hawk island), by the science museum and through downtown. What more could you ask for in an urban trail?See more..
4.5Rosy Mound Natural Area(92 reviews) - No dogs. Wonderful hiking through gorgeous woods to lovely bluffs and Lake Michigan Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Wonderful hiking through gorgeous woods to lovely bluffs and Lake Michigan. Surprisingly rugged topography with many stairs but a good workout. No pets allowed so no dog poop or overly friendly dogs jumping on you to worry about. We went on a weekday during the Fall so it wasn't too crowded and they didn't charge for parking but I imagine that parking in the very small lot would be difficult to find.See more..
4.5Betsie Valley Trail(70 reviews) - Great trail for either biking or hiking Hiking Trails
This trail has starting points in either beulah or Frankfort .. one can choose out and back, one way, or round trip. It’s up to you, but whatever you choose, you will be surprised with how scenic it is , offering great views of crystal lake and various nature areas . I did an out and back hike from Beulah, but I definitely want to follow up with a bike ride in the future. Lots of tourists opt for sleeping bear dunes and give this area a miss. Ok by me as less people on the trails! Definitely worth checking out See more..
This is by my house and I have to say, I am spoiled with this trail. This trail is no longer a state park, but is maintained locally. It is well groomed and maintained, even in winter some of it is scraped. The trail is paved from Hamburg to Pinckney, past the west side of Pinckney it is not paved. The trail is approximately 20 miles long and runs into Stockbridge. The paved part is great for walks, bicycling, running or blading, and is nicely shaded. There are many places to park near M-36 or at the trailhead on M-36 and Pettysville. There are porta-potties at M36 and Pettysville, along with parking. The unpaved trail has been used by horses and is very rough, not very suitable for biking. There are a few benches in some areas, no picnic tables or playgrounds, this is strictly a trail. If you plan on walking your dog, there are disposal stations for dog waste.See more..

4.5Al Sabo Preserve(32 reviews) - hiking into the woods Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails

4.5Mason Tract Pathway(27 reviews) - Make sure to find the chapel in the woods! Hiking Trails
There is a small chapel located on the rivers edge. Open to the public and very peaceful and serene. If you're driving you'll want four wheel drive, or at least a truck and knowledge of driving off road in the sand and woods. There are no signs, but if you're good with a map you should be okay. Once you get to the end of the two track road there is a small area to park, it's at a dead end and there is a gate, which is about the only way you'll know you're there. The chapel is a short walk up and over a hill towards the river. If you got stuck out here, it would take some time and $$$ to get pulled out. You can also stop by the chapel if you take a canoe trip out of Roscommon, the canoe rental places will know what you are talking about. There is a small dock and it's a great place to stop and simply reflect on the beauty of Northern MI. There are no real facilities there, but there are outhouses for the most basic need.See more..
If you like to hike, this is the best hike I have ever been on in Michigan! It is just one mile from town, simple to find down a residential street, and well worth going to again and again! The extreme ecological diversity found at the Glacial Hills Pathway and Natural Area here is beyond anything I have ever seen before. There are 12 distinct habitat types, including two hardwood forest types, three wetland habitats, and the shrub thicket and wet mesic forest types that support more than 20 species of trees, over 100 species of flowers, and over 100 species of birds, including great-horned owls, eagles and the threatened red-shoulder hawk. Wow.See more..

4.5Old Indian Trail(17 reviews) - Peaceful and picturesque Hiking Trails
My husband and I walked here several days while staying in the area. We did the one mile trail (there and back about 2.5 miles) and the black arrow trail as well (over 3 miles). The shorter trail is mostly flat until you get to the end; you have the option of climbing the dune to see the breathtaking views and visit lake Michigan. If you are up for a hike, I highly recommend the black arrow trail. This trail is a bit harder but offers more scenic views. See more..
Enjoy a bicycle ride on this flat asphalt tree lined trail that is paroled by the Macomb County Sheriffs department. It is an easy 7 mile trip from Armada to the city of Richmond. rest under a gazebo in Richmond. I believe the trail is 26 miles long total (I think it starts in Rochester,Michigan) Pit toilets are found along the way. People using the trail are usually friendly and abide by cycling rules ( ie. Passing on your left is spoken or they use of a bell) My wife and I rode the trail pretty much spring -fall. Cycling is low impact on your knees and fun:) Be wary of deer crossing the trail. Seeing a small family of deer is a bonus to me!!! but no fun to run into. There is a parking lot located in Armada and nothing has ever been tampered with.See more..

The Bishop's Bog Preserve Trail is in a slightly secluded place. I love this place. We even saw a couple of deer roaming about unafraid of humans.See more..
4.5Portland Riverwalk(7 reviews) - The jewel of Portland Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
The River Trail system in Portland is one of the finest assets of the city. If you walk the entire trail, it's over 10 miles long. It loops through most of the parks in the city; at least half of it runs adjacent to the Grand or Lookingglass Rivers. No matter what time of day you walk it, you have a chance of seeing the deer who live nearby. They are so accustomed to walkers that they stand and stare---seemingly unfrightened. See more..

5.0Huron Sunrise Trail(6 reviews) - Great bike path Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
This is a wonderful paved bike path that extends from downtown Rogers City to the 40 mile Point light house North of town (about 10 miles). Some of the path goes right along the Lake Huron shore and part through the woods. The Hoeft State park is about at the halfway point and park visitors use this a lot. Since most of the path is fairly flat it is a great ride for kids.See more..

We were worried when we parked that it was a mistake. But you walk straight ahead until you get to the top of the ledges. If you walk left for a bit, you can will see stairs going down to the ledges. 4.5Mount Ojibway Trail(5 reviews) - Stunning view from the lookout tower Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
After renting a skiff at Rock Harbor, we boated to Daisy Farm campground and embarked on the hike to the top of Mount Ojibway. At a fairly casual pace, we reached the lookout tower in about an hour. From the tower, you are able to see both the North and South shores of the island, as well as some of the inland lakes. On a clear day, Canada is also visible. It was a hot day (and the majority of the trail is unprotected from sun) but luckily many blueberry plants line the trail.See more..

9.5 miles one-way, paved, flat and well maintained from trailhead to trailhead (19.0 miles total). Each trailhead has parking for about 15 vehicles. It crosses 8 county or state roads and has 10 benches on the trail with minimal shade available. Views of Wildlife, creek crossings and farm fields. Very little traffic. 2.0Torch Lake Nature Preserve(1 review) - Fair hiking in Northern Michigan Hiking Trails There was a very easy trail with views of the woods. The trail was good for our 5-7 year-old walkers.
