Nice trail
The trail starts about a half mile out of town. We wnt about 5 miles before it started to rain. We turned back at that point. It was a very easy trail, no steep inclines. Fully paved all the way to the park. You do have to cross a busy street a few times, just keep the kids close. We will return tomorrow and go further if weather permits.

Smooth!
This is the perfect bike path, for those of us who don't like hills. It is smooth pavement all the way from South Haven to Van Buren State Park. There are quite a few road crossings, however, particularly across one busy highway, and it goes past the recycling plant and garbage dump (?), so I wouldn't call it especially idyllic. We did pass by some nice forested areas with songbirds and wildflowers. The beach at Van Buren State Park is much more pebbly than sandy, though the dunes are interesting. Overall, though, it was a fun ride, and I'd definitely do it again!
