West Bloomfield Nature Reserve, Michigan, United States

4.5 (32 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in West Bloomfield Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails

What a treasure! We fell into this park, on a whim and ended up spending the better part of the afternoon exploring.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who just wants a sweet walk in nature, with a pond and beautiful foliage.

    Excellent place to walk.
You are in West Bloomfield, but when you are walk on Woods Nature trail you feel like you are far away and in a real forest.

    Beautiful place to visit.
This nature reserve is a jewel in our city.
It is very well maintained and beautifully kept.
There is no better way to start a day than taking a walk in this amazing nature reserve.
If you are lucky and many times I have been, you will see beautiful deer and flying beards, you will see turtles in the water bodies or on logs bathing in the sun.
This is a real fun place.

    Beautiful scenery
My daughter and I went for a walk on the path for our 1st time yesterday. We only walked 2 miles, but it was gorgeous. A peaceful and serene walk. I love that they have viewing areas throughout. We will definitely take our bikes next time to see more of the trail. Also, there were butterflies everywhere!! That was my favorite part!

    Nice for walking or cycling
Very good trail for a nice walk or bicycle ride. No too muddy even during rain. Nice nature around. Only disadvantage it’s no round trip you have to go forth and back.

    best outdoor jogging trail
It is a safe and enjoyable trail to jog. There is plenty shade along the trail. There are always people, people with dogs walking along, one doesn't have to worry being all alone in a wooded area. The cyclists are allowed, but there are signs "wheels yield to heels" all over the trail, and most of the cyclists will make noisy to alert you they are behind you.

    Love the Nature
I love walking on the trail. Many times we will see turtles, bunnies, deer while walking.
The trees can make for a wonderfully shaded path, but the parts that are clear with no trees are also beautiful and warm when the sun is shining. You do have to be careful
when crossing some of the streets due to car traffic. Not everyone is considerate of walkers, and they don’t always stop at the cross walks.
    Love to walk 3-6 miles.

ponds and hills and animals oh my
This is a lovely little park along a rails to trails trail. There is ample parking for its size and some porta potties at the lot. The trails are not long but if you do them all you get in a few miles. There are several nice ponds and one has an excellent boardwalk extension out toward it for a good view. There are a few short spots which casual walkers will consider steep, and they can actually be a little difficult if very wet or icy. People do walk dogs but almost always pick up after them so only if you fear dogs will this be a situation. I have seen a number of types of harmless snakes, many spieces of birds, and the usual squirrels and small rodents. There is ample evidence of larger mammals but I have not seen them out.
All in all a very nice park. In fall and winter you will see the backs of some adjacent homes, this is not wilderness.

    Long walk or short
This is a nice trail, on par with the Metro parks for example. A pond, lots of ups and downs, often we see small wildlife on the ground and many birds. There are two parts to this trail. The part in the woods that is formally the trail is a couple miles in total length. It has some scenic overlooks and in the past and maybe again will be home to Great blue Heron nests. But, if you want a long trail there is also a rails to trails type trail that is right there too and goes for many miles in each direction. It attaches of the Clinton river trail at one end and that when finished will go for many more miles.
