4.5Holland State Park Beach(1.386 reviews) - Fun Day at the Beach Sunday: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Beaches
If you're planning to spend a few hours to the whole day at the beach, it's worth every penny of the entrance fee ($10 when we visited). The beach is big, clean and friendly. There was plenty of space to sun, get wet, walk out to the end of the breakwater and change back into dry clothes at the end. If you're just going to check it out, but not stay long, park outside of the entrance and walk in on the trail that follows the channel from the lake.See more..
4.5Oval Beach(1.085 reviews) - A couple tips Beaches
Lake Michigan Beach, popular for its clear water and nice sand.See more..
a very popular and impressive beach with a play area, restrooms and food concessions. the swim area is outlined with buoys and manned lifeguards to watch over everyone. there are other areas outside of the swim and beach area, still in the park, along the shoreline including small pockets in the dunes, paved trails leading to a channel for boats and lighthouses one can walk to. there are many tables, benches and bbqs within the park for use. the restrooms are clean and taken care of and there are water fountains with foot showers to clean off the fine grained sand. we were extremely lucky to have a beautiful day and evening for taking photos of the sunset. admission is $12 for an all day pass with plenty of parking for easy access and the ranger mentioned that we could leave and come back later as long as we had our pass, which we did. Lake Michigan never disappoints with its rolling waves and sandy bottom.. definitely will return to this fantastic beach and its amenities.See more..
We came here to see the sun set on a warm July evening and were not disappointed. The sun going into Lake Michigan created gorgeous colors. The walk to the lighthouse was newly redone in early 2020 and was safe, clean, and lined with big rocks to protect you from the waves. We were able to take great pictures of the setting sun. On the beach, the bathrooms were clean and private, a perfect place to relieve yourself during COVID-19.See more..
Lovely beach! Visited in late July. Water was perfect. Water and beach were clean. Sand is soft but it's a little rocky at shore, but soft again in water. Lifeguards seemed attentive; especially to people being in the neighboring harbor when they should not have. Everyone seemed to do a good job of social distancing by 6+feet because of pandemic. Restaurant at start of beach had plenty of food options, such as tacos, turkey sandwich, chips, hummus, walking taco, etc. Also, had Island Club style drinks; virgin pina colada, virgin strawberry daiquiri, etc. Parking lot available. Parking not very big so get there early. Rates were $5/3hrs or $12/all day. I believe there is additional parking in other areas though as I saw many people walking across bridge to beach.See more..
5.0Stearns Park(369 reviews) - Oh the sunsets! Beaches • Parks
There is a stream of folks heading to the park each evening for the west- facing park’s view of the setting sun...beautifully maintained and handicapped accessible. Plenty of parking and benches. The access to Ludington pierhead light is from this park.See more..
This is a state park along the coast of Lake Michigan located near Mears, Michigan. It includes shoreline along Lake Michigan and Silver Lake, along with many sand dunes.See more..
4.5Clinch Park(244 reviews) - Kayak in West Bay Beaches
We booked a 1 hr Kayak rental from the Clinch Park location. Beautiful water. After our kayaking, we stayed on the beach and played in the water. Water is clear and warm. Sand can get a little hot so we recommend flip flops. We ate ice cream, smoothies, and hamburgers at the snack shack. We always enjoy this beach when we are in the area. See more..
4.5North Beach(134 reviews) - Nice Clean Beach Bodies of Water • Beaches
There were multiple beaches to choose from in the South Haven area, but my boyfriend and I enjoyed North Beach the most. There is a concessions stand with plenty of food to choose from, as well as bathrooms. There is a play area for kids and tons of space. There is paid parking right on the beach, but if you pay to park at one beach, then it works at the other beaches in the area. We just parked in the neighborhood right by the beach and walked over. The water and sand were both very clean.See more..
We love staying at Harbor Lights Resort which is across the street from Frankfort beach. There are swing sets a permanent bathroom in the parking lot. It’s a nice walk down the pier but it is farther than it looks. They have a light system in front of the pier to let you know if it’s safe (red, amber, green) the lake bottom is sandy. It is located at the end of Main street. Parking is limited and NO motorhomes or trailers allowed. There are also permanent benches and a couple bench swings by the water. Fishing off the pier. Come and enjoy.See more..
4.5First Street Beach(118 reviews) - Great beach with beautiful views! Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Beaches
IF you can catch this area on a weekday, you practically have the beach to yourselves. It is actually a series of interconnect beaches. You can walk along the shore, sunbath, or enjoy the views from the deck as the fishing boats come in from Lake Michigan. There are several beautiful views of the the lighthouse. Parking is free! The lighthouse park area (3 minutes walk south) has nice bathrooms and a concession stand.See more..
4.5Weko Beach Park(104 reviews) - Great for different reasons Beaches
Any day at the lake is a great day, but Weko Beach brings something to the table that others don’t. There is a certain atmosphere , a certain festive vibe, a certain unassuming local charm that you don’t find elsewhere. Shallow water and sand bars are great for children. As a kid, I remember thinking how cool it was when I could be so far out and still not be over my head. Grills allowed on the upper portion of the beach with places to dump the coals. Nice steep dunes are fun if want to play king of the mountain. Elevated boardwalks provide an outstanding view of Lake Michigan sunsets. See more..
I have been for years looking to find a place to have a beach fire. Empire beach is the place. They have fire pits all along the beach. Took the family to enjoy a sunset and fire. I would highly recommend taking the time out for a little time to watch the sunset here. remember Lake Michigan is always cold to swim in , still did not stop lots of people. The nice part is there was a small beach on other side of parking lot. Kids loved that. The parking lot charges $5.00 to park from 10-8 after 8 its free . if going go early lots of people took in the sunset.See more..
4.5Oscoda Beach Park(88 reviews) - Beach day trip! Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
Big, beautiful sand beach with room for lots of families. We made a day of it and enjoyed building sand castles, playing in the lake which had temps in the high 60s, and watching the kids play on the playground. It has a nice boardwalk, bathrooms, benches for grandma to sit, and is walking distance from downtown restaurants and ice cream.See more..
We brought the kids here to swim in Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful day to be there. Parking was easy and the park right there was nice too. The beach was Rocky, great for rock hunting but painful to walk out in. It was a wavy day so we didn't let the kids out too far. We got to see the ferry come through. See more..
4.5Buttersville Park(68 reviews) - Beautiful campsite but bring earplugs. Beaches • Parks
Nice township campground in a beautiful location. Do not miss watching a gorgeous Lake Michigan sunset sitting on the bluff at the campsite. We didn’t have a lot of interaction with the staff but what we did was all very pleasant. One thing: there is a manufacturing plant nearby and, I don’t know if it happens all the time, but we were there on a Sunday night and the beep beep beep of what sounds like the reverse alarm on trucks went on all night long. Unless you’re one of those sleepers who won’t wake up for anything, bring ear plugs or you’ll probably have a pretty sleepless night listening to what sounds like an alarm clock all night long.See more..
4.5Cheboygan State Park(57 reviews) - Poe Reef cabin Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Beaches
Beautiful private beach just 40' from the rustic cabin. Clean & newer outhouse. Woodstove worked great & we needed it the last week of Sept! Dogs allowed only at this cabin at Cheboygan State Park. Bring own cookware!See more..
4.5Kruse Park(52 reviews) - Great DOG park Beaches • Parks
I brought my dog here so she could spend the day off leash playing in the water. If you don't want to share the beach with dogs, don't come here! People seemed to do their best to keep their dogs on the "dog side" of the beach, but frankly, dogs can't read signs. Respectfully, almost every beach on the Lake Michigan coast is for humans only, no dogs allowed PERIOD. So for the people who come here and get angry that the dogs act like dogs and your day was ruined because of sandy dogs or barking or dogs being off leash, go to any of the hundreds of other beaches that are dog free. Give us this one great beach where we can enjoy a day with our furry family members :) I can't wait to come back here with mine.See more..
4.5Lakeside Park(46 reviews) - One of Southeast Michigan's Best Beaches Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
Often now more crowded than ever, the secret must be out about this sandy beach and its recent upgrades. However, if it becomes too crowded with boaters off shore, it may be better to go to one of the no-frills beaches to the north on Gratiot. Also, a visit on a warm day in Fall or Spring is refreshing.See more..
4.5Starlite Beach(41 reviews) - My grandkids had a blast! Beaches
Nice little beach with a great play area right on Lake Huron. My grandkids had a blast playing in the water and looking for fossils. I was lucky enough to find a nice Petoskey Stone :) The beach was neat and clean with room for chairs and towels without being crowded. There is several restaurants nearby if you want to do a picnic. We stopped at the Dairy Queen less than a block away.See more..
We arrived at 8PM to take sunset shots of lake michian. There were about 6 open parking spots- a lot of people walk to the beach during the day due to limited parking. The stairways down to the beach are rather new according to locals. No fees. It also has bathrooms at the top. Great value - you pay zero but it is VG. Oval beach charges about $10 for entry. 5.0Fifth Avenue Beach(34 reviews) - Great Spot for Sunset Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
We were in Michigan in October so really wasn't beach weather, but this beach was a great location to see the sunset. Because of the time of year, the sunset was setting behind the lighthouse. We didn't even have to get out of the car to watch it in the cold breeze, you had a perfect view.See more..
4.5Platte Point Beach(27 reviews) - Scenic Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
The beach is so nice every trip we make to the area we stop to enjoy the beach. The river water is so nice , just over the break is lake Michigan. We have always found the water to cold to swim in but still a beautiful area. The current on the river can be challenging for little ones , it the last point were all the tubers, and kayakers get out. if you have the park pass you can park for free in designated lots. If not the township parking lot is $5.00.See more..
4.0Meinert Park(23 reviews) - Lake Mich beach away from crowds Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
Nice quiet Lake Michigan beach with some trails in the nature preserve that could use better markings for the north trail. Looks like many could not read the no dogs on beach sign. Very low key.See more..
4.5Van's Beach(22 reviews) - The place to go to find Leland Blue! Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
Leland Blue is the local stone that people use to make jewelry. I wanted to find some so I did what was suggested by another TripAdvisor review - I brought water sandals (VERY rocky shoreline), a bucket and a strainer. I also went early in the morning when it was a little windy - less crowds and more likelihood of finding stones. I found stones of various sizes/color very quickly. If you like rocks, this is a great place to stop. It's an odd beach to find as access is tucked behind an auto shop and parking is limited.See more..
We stopped here for awhile after a late lunch at Clementines, and before continuing on our journey home. This is a great place to stretch one's legs, walk around a bit and enjoy nice views of the lake. It was also a pleasant reminder of past visits here; and longer times by the water. See more..
4.0Barnes Park(15 reviews) - Gorgeous View Especially In Fall Spent 2-3 hours Beaches • Playgrounds
We had a gorgeous fall drive up the peninsula and came across this beautiful park. Definitely worth stopping by and taking in the view of Grand Traverse Bay. No dogs allowed on the beach. $25 fine. It had pretty trails and a play area for the children. Looks like the campground was very nice as well. Decent sized campsites. See more..
A hidden Gem , absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Michigan . Way above the lake you can watch the sunset and during the day you can drive down the little road that leads to the beach. You can stop at several points to see Frankfort as well . Hard to put into words .See more..
East Twin Lake in Lewiston, Michigan. Love coming here a few times a year with family and friends. Small but just right to keep an eye on small children. Has a playground kids love with some picnic ta les and benches to relax and chill. See more..
We found this beach hidden off a main road, it was pretty quaint early in the day, Not much shore to enjoy if there would be a lot of people. Water was pretty cool and it was very rocky as expected in Michigan. Overall satisfied for a beach day, we returned later that week in the evening to watch the sunset. We took our fur friend whom is a pit bull and we have a couple locals who immediately made comments about him, hey complained he was there and they were quite rude. Was disappointed for the sunset trip. See more..
