Experience the Original Model T Factory Visiting the Piquette Avenue Ford Plant is a unique experience-it's the oldest auto plant open to the public anywhere in the world. Almost unchanged since Henry Ford's day, the plant is a three-story New England-style mill building. Each floor is divided into sections by the original metal fire doors, complete with the shadows of Henry Ford's "Positively NO Smoking" stencils. The old plank floors are worn from the 12,000 Model Ts built on them, so wear appropriate shoes for your visit. The plant is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a designated National Historic Landmark and a Michigan State Historic Site. Walk the worn wood floors and touch the brick walls where Henry Ford and his team of automotive pioneers developed the car that led to an automotive and social revolution. See Henry Ford's office as it was in 1908 when he was on the cusp of fame. And learn why it still matters today. 9. 4.5 Quincy Mine (412 reviews)
    - Excellent and informative Quincy Mine tour
Monday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites • Mines
    Quincy Mine image
Very interesting tour of the mine with Allie as a great guide. The tour takes about 90 minutes and costs $35 per person. Reservations are recommended but if you are flexible, you can try to make them in person. There are lots of interesting things on property that are not included in the tour but outside exhibits could use more descriptive signage. It is amazing to listen to how hard these miners worked for a tiny salary with no benefits. NOTE: Bring a light jacket as temperature in the mine is about 42°. The full tour involves going up and down a few short segments of stairs. The ground is often wet with puddles but mostly level. There is some dripping from the ceiling. There are brief episodes of loud noise and total darkness but the guide warns you in advance. You are required to wear a plastic miner’s helmet for the duration of the tour. The gift shop has water available and you are allowed to carry it with you. See more..

The docent who gives the tours is extremely knowledgeable. When my husband and I visited, the docent had just finished a tour for a large family group, but he started a new tour just for us. He spent at least 30 minutes explaining the Native American culture of the area, telling the stories behind the petroglyphs, and answering our questions. A number of other visitors viewed the petroglyphs rock during our tour, but declined to join the tour. Most of these visitors just looked at the petroglyphs for a few minutes before moving on to the nature trail. These people really missed out. The docent has so much information to offer. After viewing the petroglyphs, take a short hike on the nature trail (it's about a mile long). There is poison ivy along the trail, so just be careful to avoid it. See more..

    W. K. Kellogg Manor House image
First visited the Kellogg's Foundation building and was met by a security guard who was very helpful with providing information about Mr. Kellogg, family history, how the corn flakes came to be. Granted I was there on a week day where there wasn't much going on. I honestly did not expect to be caught up on the history of Kellogg's but the way he told the stories, the facts at his fingertips not only opens your eyes, but want to know more. The foyer has beautiful pieces of art and murals. And yes, he could tell you who, what, why of the art. Very impressive. The Kellogg Manor House is situated right behind the foundation's building. Make sure you call first if you want to tour the inside as it's not always open. I wasn't able to get in just peeped through the windows. See more..

    Elowsky Mill image
My Uncle owns the property and we were here for my cousins wedding. We got our first tour of Elowsky Mill from Gary, he was awesome and very informative as his parents owned it before selling it to my Uncle. Very beautiful piece of property. They also have a beautiful barn for receptions, and if you have a lot of guest you could get a huge tent. They also have a serving room for buffets, rest rooms, they also have several rentals you could stay at. Truly a site and place to see! See more..

It was fun to come here and see where Ford Motor Company changed how we manufacture products around the world. It's too bad the building hasn't been converted into a museum, it's certainly relevant enough to American History. Still it was fun to walk & drive around the buildings. See more..

This museum complex consists of several historic buildings including a barn and an Octagon house which are all open to the public during limited times, usually 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays. All are furnished and the complex is staffed by volunteers. Admission and parking are free though donations are welcomed. There are special events here throughout the year. The newest addition to the complex is the Eloise Museum housed in a separate building and houses artifacts that were originally in the Eloise Hospital Complex such as a barber's chair, seats from the old Gruber auditorium, an old wooden wheelchair, and dishes and utensils. This is of special interest to anyone interested in the old Eloise Hospital Complex. See more..

Stopped here after a kids' event at the Speedway. It's a private residence and you can't park anywhere along the street to take pics (I just waited until traffic cleared to take some of my pics). It's a beautiful house with a nice sized fenced in yard and 2 extra buildings in the back. Wish I could tour the buildings. See more..
