A very relaxing place to visit
This is the perfect place to visit if you love the basics: beach time, sunsets, long walks and bike rides. We love coming for a week and not making any set plans. If you don’t want to be here when it’s crowded, talk to the folks at the community center for event dates!

    Quiet Michigan getaway
We just spent three nights on Beaver Island and really enjoyed it! The ferry ride over is relaxing, the island is quirky and just what I expected from reading other reviews. Not a place for foodies, but we did find some good places to eat (Dahlwinnie and Circle M). The island was very COVID conscious, which made me very comfortable. Masks worn in all stores and restaurants, and every establishment had hand sanitizer at their entrances. We took bikes with us, and had fun riding them on the dirt roads, but know that Beaver Island is quite large so you really can't see it on a bike. We rented a car for 24 hours from Burton's, which was a good value at $65 and enough time to do a relaxing driving tour with hikes, swims, and stops. Sunsets can't be beat. Go for the nature. Beaches on the island are lovely, mostly sandy. My husband caught two large smallmouth bass right off the beach. The grocery store is really the heart of town - also next to Dahlwinnie. Be ready to chill, find your own fun, poke around, and talk to people. Everyone we met who lived or worked on the island was welcoming. As with all islands, hours that stores and restaurants are open can vary - most had days they were closed and some closed early some days or opened later.
