    Veldheer Tulip Garden image
When in the area this should be on your list of places to see. During this time of year, it is a park in the field next to the store, and have a short walk to the store. They bring in folks by the (multiple) bus loads for shopping and visiting the fields. They were not pouring any molds, or carving any shoes, but they were burning names and dates on souvenir shoes and there was some painting going on. Know it is $15 per to walk to the tulip fields, and it may be a better experience than visiting the Windmill Island Gardens in town - more tulips, and less of a crowd and easier parking and access. 9. 4.5 Hidden Lake Garden (88 reviews)
    - A MUST SEE!
    Sunday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Gardens
    Hidden Lake Garden image
This garden deserves to be far better known. It is truly a world-class facility. One can see a lot in a couple of hours just by driving around the six mile road and visiting the conservatory. I recommend a half day at least to really appreciate what this place has to offer. The entry fee is now $5.00, still the best bargain in Michigan. There are nice walking trails through the woods, a fantastic collection of magnificent conifer trees, an arboretum that serves as a landscape architecture study, an excellent conservatory. See more..

  11. 4.5 W. K. Kellogg Manor House (53 reviews)
    - Kellogg's foundation and Manor House
    Historic Sites • Gardens
    W. K. Kellogg Manor House image
First visited the Kellogg's Foundation building and was met by a security guard who was very helpful with providing information about Mr. Kellogg, family history, how the corn flakes came to be. Granted I was there on a week day where there wasn't much going on. I honestly did not expect to be caught up on the history of Kellogg's but the way he told the stories, the facts at his fingertips not only opens your eyes, but want to know more. The foyer has beautiful pieces of art and murals. And yes, he could tell you who, what, why of the art. Very impressive. The Kellogg Manor House is situated right behind the foundation's building. Make sure you call first if you want to tour the inside as it's not always open. I wasn't able to get in just peeped through the windows. See more..

Applewood is the historic Flint, Mich., estate of automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott, open seasonally from May–October. In addition to the home and attached greenhouse, the 34-acre estate includes an apple orchard with 29 heirloom varieties, extensive gardens, a gatehouse, barn, and coop. What a beautiful dahlia garden. It’s a quick stop full of beauty. I loved the larger view, but enjoyed the closeups of the flowers and bees the most! “For the beauty of this earth!” A stop worth making! Take 5 minutes or 50! Peaceful and beautiful! See more..
  15. 5.0 Michigan State University Horticultural Gardens (38 reviews)
    - Lovely gardens!
    Gardens
Michigan State University Horticultural Gardens image
The last time I'd walked through these beautiful gardens was over 16 years ago as an MSU student. It is wonderful to see how well they've been taken care of & expanded. Simply beautiful every where you turn! It's amazing that it's free – what a treat! Generally I have an aversion towards parking fees but the measly $2 I paid made me feel like a thief. I'm also not a big fan of kids but I have to say the children's garden is wonderful – very well done! I can't imagine a reason you wouldn't want to come here. I wish I were local – I'd come here all the time. (Btw, I'm pretty sure at least 2 of the photos posted by others are of the Beal Gardens which are also at MSU but closer to the library. Mine are all from the gardens at the address posted on this listing.) See more..
  16. 4.5 The Botanic Garden (38 reviews)
    - A gem of a botanical garden! Be sure to ask for a tour.
    Spent 1-2 hours Gardens
    The Botanic Garden image
What an amazing visit! The gift shop has some lovely, unique things. The man at the counter asked if we wanted a tour. So off we went. Andi showed us around historic buildings and told us about how they were when it was part of the state hospital. We learned about the history of the state hospital and how the founder, Dr. Munson, believed that beauty could aid healing. He also ensured quality care for the animals of the farm. Then, she handed us off to Rick for a botanical tour Including a Labrinth patterned after the ancient one at Chartres France. There’s a lot to see in this young botanical garden including a native plant garden, a healing garden, a pollinator garden, a rain garden as well as community gardens. My favorite was the stable garden with the adjoining “secret garden” highlighting plants of Japan and China. Big thanks go out to our two docents: Andi and Rick. Thanks! See more..

We were driving through the area and saw this on Trip Adviser so we decided to stop and take a walk. Very cute little park. We spent about 30 minutes playing with the instruments, looking in the pond, and using the human sundial which was very accurate! It is located along a stretch with several parks and near the KISS Monument so we walked to those too. Worth the time if you are passing through. See more..

I took my kiddos here to walk around & they really enjoyed it. The tree carvings were pretty neat, they loved seeing those. We walked the trails and checked out the children’s garden. The children’s area isn’t huge, but it’s full of fun stuff and my kids gave it a big thumbs up. Also, for social distancing right now...there were not many people here and the people that were there were very, very spaced out. Had the children’s area entirely to ourselves also! See more..
