Hidden Lake Garden, Michigan, United States

4.5 (88 reviews) Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent Ranking #1 in Tipton Gardens

A MUST SEE!

This garden deserves to be far better known. It is truly a world-class facility. One can see a lot in a couple of hours just by driving around the six mile road and visiting the conservatory. I recommend a half day at least to really appreciate what this place has to offer. The entry fee is now $5.00, still the best bargain in Michigan. There are nice walking trails through the woods, a fantastic collection of magnificent conifer trees, an arboretum that serves as a landscape architecture study, an excellent conservatory.

One of the most beautiful Arboretums and Gardens ever!
I love going to Hidden Lake Gardens! It is a pretty drive from Ann Arbor and is only about a half hour from Jackson through the Irish Hills. The gardens and conservatories are just delightful. There is a small very informative gift shop. But really for me it is the trees - such varieties and such loveliness. One could hike or drive about the whole day. Once I even took a nap on a quiet grassy slope in a fairly private corner when I was getting over chemo. It is only $3 per person. A hosta garden lives on one hill near the lake. Dogs on leashes are welcome, too. There are often special fun exhibits, or lanterns, or costumed scarecrows. Interesting unusual evergreens, hardwoods, fruit trees. Something new to discover every visit. A bonsai collection, too, just behind the conservatories.

    Multi-Use Property
Traveling in Southern Michigan we came across a nice surprise. A garden run by the University of Michigan is a low-cost way to really enjoy a day. One can drive or bike or walk or hike any or all of the park for only $3 per person. Since we are avid birders, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We needed to have more time to enjoy the nature they are in the park. If you get a chance to go to Tipton stop by at this park on Route 12. You won't regret it!
