4.5Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum(187 reviews) - Amazing ship and volunteers/staff Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Military Museums
My teen son and I traveled from Chicago to tour the USS Edson and it was well worth the drive. We were fortunate that a kind volunteer offered to give us a tour we weren't even planning on! It is amazing to see the passion the volunteers have for restoring and maintaining this spectacular artifact of U.S. history. If we didn't have to return home that day, we would've loved to have spent the afternoon chatting the day away with everyone in the gift shop - quite an entertaining and informative group of individuals, as well as ambassadors for the Edson and Bay City. Although it was extremely windy the day we did the tour, we dressed appropriately for the conditions (as recommended on the website) and found that it was perfectly comfortable inside. We are already planning for when we will return.See more..

National park pass required though no one asked to see it. Beautiful views, of the lake. Interesting boat house with life boats and very knowledgeable volunteer answering questions. The Maritime Museum has good displays and interesting artifacts. There are two floors. The film about the life saving drills was interesting. Restrooms are on site. We spent about a hour here.See more..
4.5Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum(17 reviews) - Dedicated to the Great Lakes sailors Monday: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Military Museums
This small maritime museum in the small town of Rogers City is dedicated to the memory of those who worked on ships in the Great Lakes. Admission is $5/adult. Not a typical museum with lots of artifacts but mostly photos and biographies of some of the great freighters and the people that lived and died on the ships. The memorial walls of some of those that lost their lives on the wrecks was moving. There is a binder of newspaper articles from the 1958 wreck of the Carl Bradley and how if affected the town of Rogers City. Very sad. The highlight of our visit was talking to the volunteer Steve Thompson who retired as a chief engineer and worked on many of the boats. He graciously answered all our questions and gave us a sense of what it was like being on a huge freighter. There is a small gift shop. We enjoyed our visit.See more..
