The Mariner was built in 1927, it was converted from it’s original use as a movie palace and vaudeville theater in the 1970s. It served as a plaza filled with unique shops and was later converted to office space. In addition to live music on stage and movies, the Mariner now includes an art gallery, and eclectic stores that provides a narrative shopping experience. The stage at the Mariner offers space from art exhibitions, sit down activities, special events, presentations and more.

    Museum and theatre
A member of my family was recently honored in a documentary about the Hello Girls of World War l. The documentary was shown in the Mariner Theatre which is now run by the lovely and gracious Laura Scaccia. The showing was a complete success and the venue itself is a star. The Mariner is not only a theatre but also a museum. The replica model of the Titanic is only one of the amazing sights in this gem. Clocks, model cars, houses, replicas...the place is a treasure. If you get to to this lovely little town on the St. Clair River, be sure to visit the Mariner.

    Hidden Gem
We read about this place and Marine City in a Detroit Free Press Column. The Mariner was highlighted and truly deserved the recognition. Although only open on weekends, if you call ahead they will open for any sized party (we were 4). For $8 per person it was a great tour of various models, clocks, furniture, toys and a dolls house. The Titanic model is fabulous and the accompanying short movie and posted information and pictures make for a well rounded exhibit. There are artifacts from the 2 Boblo Boats which used to cruise the Detroit River. Flags from the boats are on display as well. Really a wonderful attraction in a very cute town on the banks of the St. Clair River.
