Voted as one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in Michigan
Very beautiful church with large stained glassed windows and marbled alter. Westphalia is a quaint German town with friendly people. Very clean town with some very nice homes.

Interesting Town, Interesting Church History
A State of Michigan Historical Marker tells the story of the Westphalia Settlement which is now Westphalia, Michigan. The other side of the marker gives the history of St. Mary's Parish. The first German Catholic church in central Michigan. Worth stopping to read the marker and enjoy a beautiful little town.

God's Chosen People
Westphalia is a nice little town, full of nice people. But, if you are not "one of them," if you are an "outsider," you'll have a hard time fitting in. They definitely have a very high opinion of themselves. To me, as an outsider and observer, they seem to consider themselves to be God's Chosen People. Who knows, maybe they are!
