Platte Point Beach, Michigan, United States

Scenic

The beach is so nice every trip we make to the area we stop to enjoy the beach. The river water is so nice , just over the break is lake Michigan. We have always found the water to cold to swim in but still a beautiful area. The current on the river can be challenging for little ones , it the last point were all the tubers, and kayakers get out. if you have the park pass you can park for free in designated lots. If not the township parking lot is $5.00.

    End of the Platte River
This is where the Plaate river ends. Right at lake Michigan. It has beautiful and clear waters. It's worth wading and playing in. The kids enjoyed it after rafting down the Plaate. A great reward for all the hard work.

    BEAUTIFUL Beach
A beautiful beach! The surface was mostly soft sand and the water in mid July was surprisingly warm, particularly in the river itself. The river terminates at the beach so it makes for an interesting dynamic of river water vs. lake water. The water was very clear and with a magnificent backdrop of Sleeping Bear Dunes a few miles away. Parking can be a challenge. Many cars were parked on the side of the road a 1/4 mile or more away because the lots were filled. Nonetheless, the beach was not crowded as there's plenty of room to spread out. There's a bathroom but no concessions of any kind. No real shade either.
