Silver Beach County Park, Michigan, United States

impressive beach

a very popular and impressive beach with a play area, restrooms and food concessions. the swim area is outlined with buoys and manned lifeguards to watch over everyone. there are other areas outside of the swim and beach area, still in the park, along the shoreline including small pockets in the dunes, paved trails leading to a channel for boats and lighthouses one can walk to. there are many tables, benches and bbqs within the park for use. the restrooms are clean and taken care of and there are water fountains with foot showers to clean off the fine grained sand. we were extremely lucky to have a beautiful day and evening for taking photos of the sunset. admission is $12 for an all day pass with plenty of parking for easy access and the ranger mentioned that we could leave and come back later as long as we had our pass, which we did. Lake Michigan never disappoints with its rolling waves and sandy bottom.. definitely will return to this fantastic beach and its amenities.

    Very nice area for photos!
We visited on October 10th, 2022, so it was starting to get colder down near Lake Michigan. However, we did not let that stop us from getting in some very nice photo opportunities of the park area and the light houses just across the lake inlet. In the daytime, there were still shops open downtown with all of this easily close enough to walk to. Some downtown restaurants were still open in the evening too. Nothing negative here. We parked near the beach after 5pm and at that time.... there was no charge to park unlike this summer when parking fees were about $15.00. Enjoy! J.

    Great Beach Experience
We had a great time at this beach and the kids loved it. The beach itself is clean and well cared for. The playground is nice. We brought both breakfast and dinner once to eat lakeside at the covered picnic tables which offered a unique experience and was nice in these times of covid. However, the restrooms and changing areas were not very clean, and the trash cans were overflowing. Also, the food stand, which is a private business, is pricy on their ice cream at least. TIP: If you are from out of the area and plan to drive to the beach more than twice, buy a season pass for $40. It is $15 per entrance otherwise. I'm not one to skimp on parking fees and park off site only to have to walk forever. Maybe you are. The $40 for 5 days of unlimited entrances was worth it to us.
