Hidden Gems Places To Visit in Michigan, United States
- 5.0 Frankenmuth Aerial Park (100 reviews)
-Great fun for everyone
Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
No complaints. They have a specific protocol for every step and it makes things run smoothly. I'm very glad they respected those with medical conditions and allowed those who couldn't wear a mask room enough to social distance and still enjoy watching their family having fun and challenging themselves. They also provided clean adequate natural seating in the shade and a small picnic area. With all this sudden change in our lives it's nice to get away from some of it. All kinds of different ppl, all seeming to get along. See more..

- 5.0 Port Austin Kayak (78 reviews)
-Great staff—thoughtful and helpful!
Monday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Gear Rentals • Kayaking & Canoeing
This is just a great company. They have a Twitter feed for you to check weather conditions. We had originally scheduled for Saturday over 4th of July weekend. The Twitter feed said it might be a little rough, and we were debating since we had two 12 year olds and a 13 year old all with their own kayak. (No tandem kayaks for Turnip Rock trip.) While we were thinking about it, I got a text saying that if you were a beginner, you probably shouldn’t go out that day. I called, they canceled and helped us get rescheduled on Sunday. Because it was a holiday weekend, I couldn’t get all 6 of us rescheduled at the same time. But they said not to worry about that. When we showed up, even though our bookings were 30 minutes apart, they let us all go out at the early time. The guys down at the dock were helpful and gave us a quick little paddling lesson. Overall just a really positive experience with helpful staff. See more..
- 5.0 Ziibiwing Center (75 reviews)
-Wonderful Place
Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
While I visited this place way before April of 2019 with a group of people from U of M - Flint, it was a very educational worthwhile experience. Everyone who works here is incredibly nice and informative. I regret that we didn't have time to visit on this trip that I just got home from visiting friends yesterday (March 2020,) because my boyfriend has never been there, but I wanted to take him badly. We just ran out of time. Take the time to visit. Their gift shop is even amazing. The displays are captivating, and if you have questions, they're quick to answer them. This is one of my favorite places to visit in Michigan. You will definitely learn things here that you haven't learned anywhere else.. unless you've paid for that knowledge in college with the right classes. Go if you have the chance! See more..

- 5.0 Bavarian Inn Holz Brucke Covered Bridge (69 reviews)
-Almost an Antique
Points of Interest & Landmarks
My third trip to Frankenmuth was the first time I was aware that the town had a covered bridge, when I saw a picture of it in a souvenir shop. I asked where it was located and made a point of stopping to see it. I was slightly disappointed to discover that the bridge was built so recently, in 1979, because I was anticipating an antique bridge with a lot of history . . . possibly having serviced Frankenmuth's early settlers. Only eight more years until it does qualify as antique though. And the bridge makes a quaint addition to the town's Bavarian theme. The vehicle lane is very narrow, but two smaller cars can pass carefully. There's a parking lot (free parking) on a hill above the bridge on the east side of the river in case you want to stop to inspect the structure close-up. And there's a separate walking lane for pedestrians where you can stop and gawk at the river in both directions. See more..

- 5.0 Johnny Panther Quests Ecotours (50 reviews)
-Can’t Wait to go Johnny Panther-ing Again!
Boat Tours • Eco Tours • Sightseeing Tours
Our Johnny Panther experience was absolutely amazing! My family and I had planned a weekend in Frankenmuth and wanted to schedule some time to enjoy nature. After some searching on Google, I found the Johnny Panther Frankenmuth River tour and scheduled it. The next day, Wil called me and, after about five minutes, convinced me to book the Michigan Everglades tour in Saginaw instead and, boy, was I glad he did! Within minutes of launching the boat we were exploring areas of Michigan we never thought existed! This tour is aptly named because once you’re in the thick of the wildlife refuge, you could very easily convince yourself that you’re in Florida. Wil was also great himself—he had so many interesting stories and is incredibly knowledgeable about the Saginaw area. I highly recommend booking a Johnny Panther experience! See more..

Our honey comes from bees that travel to local orchards and farms, creating a flavor that truly represents Northern Michigan. We source our fruit as close to the meadery as possible by working with those same local farmers whose crops were pollinated by the bees. We have a long family history of bottling delicious drinks. Our great-great-grandpa Bailey bottled water from a natural spring on the banks of Clam Lake. This fantastic water was sold throughout the community. His building still stands across from our childhood home, and serves as a daily reminder to do grandpa proud. See more..

- 5.0 The Vogue Theatre (46 reviews)
-Great Vintage Cinema
Monday: 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM Theaters
I love old theaters and the Vogue doesn't disappoint. From the great facade outside to the retro atrium inside. The theater is a mix of retro and modern. Sadly it doesn't really have the great atmosphere of some old theaters, like there's no murals on walls or ceiling. The seats are acceptable, comfortable, but not much more. Screen is a tad small, but ok. The sound system seems very good. I saw Free guy and loved my experience. The service was very good and friendly. My rating is going to be based against historic theaters, not modern cinemas. On that criteria I give a full 5 stars. The faults are too minor compared to the feel of a historic theater. Would I return? You betcha! $7 ticket is worth it. See more..
