Great staff—thoughtful and helpful!

This is just a great company. They have a Twitter feed for you to check weather conditions. We had originally scheduled for Saturday over 4th of July weekend. The Twitter feed said it might be a little rough, and we were debating since we had two 12 year olds and a 13 year old all with their own kayak. (No tandem kayaks for Turnip Rock trip.) While we were thinking about it, I got a text saying that if you were a beginner, you probably shouldn’t go out that day. I called, they canceled and helped us get rescheduled on Sunday. Because it was a holiday weekend, I couldn’t get all 6 of us rescheduled at the same time. But they said not to worry about that. When we showed up, even though our bookings were 30 minutes apart, they let us all go out at the early time. The guys down at the dock were helpful and gave us a quick little paddling lesson. Overall just a really positive experience with helpful staff.

    Great Kayak Service
This business is super friendly and laid back. Straightforward kayaking instructions and employees were adhering to mask wearing. RT to Turnip Rock is 6 miles so I’d recommend packing snacks or beverages into a waterproof container and tucking it in the kayak. Very reasonably priced rental and easy online booking.

    Turnip rock
We had a great time kayaking to Turnip rock! A few tips...ask for tow ropes if you have anyone younger or less energetic in your group. Wear swim suits if it's warm so you can jump in the water along the way (it's very shallow with some beaches). This week there were several days they could not rent kayaks due to wind, so check the website for weather conditions before driving over. We reserved for the first day of our trip so we could reschedule if needed. Also, reserve in the morning because sometimes they have to stop rentals during the afternoon due to wind. There were a few biting flies. We made the trip with 2 kids age 14 and 12, the 12 year old did need a bit of towing on the way back. It took us the full 4 hours including about 45 minutes of breaks along the way. A backup or additional kayak trip would be the Pinnebog River nearby - there is a kayak launch and a canoe rental place.
