Fresh Water, No Salt, No Sharks! Swimming is Amazing!

One of the reasons I'm still living in Traverse City if for the shoreline. I just can't get enough of Lake Michigan whether I'm in Charlevoix, Empire, Frankfort, Leland, or Traverse City. The lake is sensational for swimming, water sports, and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Sometimes just sitting on the sand for a several minutes and doing nothing is very soothing. NIKSEN, the Dutch way of meditating and allowing your body and mind to rest.Lake Michigan is a stunning lake, even the ducks, seagulls, and swans agree.

Scrumpous water view in nearly every direction
We drove the coast line up to both peninsula points, seeing miles of shoreline near Traverse City. Sleeping Bear Dunes has additional miles and miles of shoreline. We were surprised to find waves lapping the shore, just like the ocean. Beautiful color and clear water.

More Than What’s in Traverse City
To enjoy the beauty of Lake MI Shoreline go up M22 along the Leelanau Peninsula or out M72 to Empire. Sleeping Bear National Park is a must see with sand dunes to climb and many hiking trails. It is truly the Caribbean of the north with its turquoise color but with no salt or sharks!
