    Military Funeral
I was there for a funeral which was very special. It is like having our own Arlington Cemetery. The Avenue of Flags is stunning as you approach and leave the site. I am so proud that we have this on our State as a powerful reminder of those who have served.

    Spring cleaning soon!
Honor and service for those who served. Volunteers are always welcome for the spring cleaning as well as Wreaths Across America. For years, I have taken my children to join the community of families, scouts, veteran's organizations, churches, schools and others to help clean away the remnants of winter-scrubbing the headstones clean for spring. Parents, leaders and helpers-please make sure your group understands why there are sometimes coins on the headstones-and insure your children do not view this as "loose change" for their pockets. These coins are meaningful, military messages. A penny left on the top of the headstone means that the grave-site was visited. A nickel indicates that the person visiting the site trained at boot camp with the deceased veteran, while a dime means the person served with them in some capacity. A quarter left at the grave means that the person who left the coin was with the veteran when they were killed.
