  1. 5.0 Whirlpool Compass Fountain (202 reviews)
    - The Kids' Favorite Part of St Joseph
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks
    Whirlpool Compass Fountain image
My kids loved this splash pad. It is pretty big, close to the beach, and got them soaked! Their favorite part was when the fountains would go down, and the cannons would begin to shoot water into the center. All the kids (and even the adults) run into the center to get ready for that. I got to hang out on a bench and watch the soaked chaos. As others have stated, there is no shade to be found, which is the only drawback. So if you are there on a sunny day, put on the sunscreen and bring plenty of water! See more..

This is a very well organized and run place. All the employees there are kind and knowledgeable. It was the best experience. They all made me feel more at ease knowing as a first time skydiver I was very nervous. They knew what to say and do to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible. My tandem instructor, Dominique was the best and I ten out of ten recommend him. The video package is well worth the extra money and make sure to ask for Hailey she is top notch. Thank Skydive Tecumseh for an indescribable experience! See more..

An amazing spot to canoe the Au Sable. We did two day trips. First day we opted for a shorter ride since we travelled in from out of town. Second day we enjoyed the king ride. We really enjoyed getting passed Burton’s Landing where the water felt a bit faster, less people and more minks. We stayed at the delightful bed and breakfast. When he got out of the car his smile said it all! I haven't seen him that excited since the birth of the kids! He's been talking about this experience non-stop since October 11, 2014. He shows everyone the video! What an awesome day he had! Thank you for providing such joy to my husband! Now I want to send him again, this time with the boys, age 24 and 35! We have recommended this experience to several family and friends. The staff was professional and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Hope to see y'all again soon! See more..

The buildings and gift shop are staffed by wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly volunteers. Since this is a county park you can swim, kayak and have a picnic. It is possible to kayak to the wreck of the Fay or even scuba dive/snorkel as it is about 600ft from shore. Part of it is on shore. We enjoyed the sunset cruise aboard the Emita II on June 8. Everything from the harbor, parking, crew, live music, bar, ship, siteseeing, and sunset was 5 stars. We will definitely be back and will recommend to others! We have also rented jet skis from the MC location in the past and had a very positive experience. Keep in mind that the lake conditions can change in an instant and the waves can be very dangerous. We had them for 2 hours and while the lake stated out smooth, it was very choppy on the way back in. See more..
  20. 5.0 Falling Waters Trail (116 reviews)
    - Valerie Stover, Broker/Owner Val Stover Real Estate Team
    Biking Trails
    Falling Waters Trail image
My dad, John Stover, used to take my sister and me on mountain bikes down this old rail to the Wooden Spoon in Concord for breakfast. We’d ride through Bunches of burrs and prickers and of course lots of mud! It was fun at the time, but I am also very content with the new much easier & smoother paved version at this point in my life. This is a great place to ride or walk/ run for all ages and ability levels. It is so nice not to have to worry about getting hit by a car!!! These trails are awesome and I love that Jackson continues to expand the trail system. I think it’s been a fantastic improvement to our community and has opened new and safe opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature. It is the best to see older and younger people out and about enjoying the trails. I included a painting I did about 10 years ago of my daughter and husband riding on this very trail, just west of Weatherwax Rd. See more..

They also provided clean adequate natural seating in the shade and a small picnic area. With all this sudden change in our lives it's nice to get away from some of it. Port Austin Kayak image
This is just a great company. They have a Twitter feed for you to check weather conditions. We had originally scheduled for Saturday over 4th of July weekend. The Twitter feed said it might be a little rough, and we were debating since we had two 12 year olds and a 13 year old all with their own kayak. (No tandem kayaks for Turnip Rock trip.) While we were thinking about it, I got a text saying that if you were a beginner, you probably shouldn’t go out that day. I called, they canceled and helped us get rescheduled on Sunday. Because it was a holiday weekend, I couldn’t get all 6 of us rescheduled at the same time. But they said not to worry about that. When we showed up, even though our bookings were 30 minutes apart, they let us all go out at the early time. The guys down at the dock were helpful and gave us a quick little paddling lesson. Overall just a really positive experience with helpful staff. See more..

    Ziibiwing Center image
While I visited this place way before April of 2019 with a group of people from U of M - Flint, it was a very educational worthwhile experience. Everyone who works here is incredibly nice and informative. I regret that we didn't have time to visit on this trip that I just got home from visiting friends yesterday (March 2020,) because my boyfriend has never been there, but I wanted to take him badly. We just ran out of time. Take the time to visit. Their gift shop is even amazing. The displays are captivating, and if you have questions, they're quick to answer them. This is one of my favorite places to visit in Michigan. You will definitely learn things here that you haven't learned anywhere else.. unless you've paid for that knowledge in college with the right classes. Go if you have the chance! See more..

We had the best time! It was a great family experience- my 7 year old niece and 10 year old nephew had a wonderful time and so did the adults. We made many memories and are already annoying our other family members with all of our fishing stories. Caught a bunch of different fishes- lake trout, steelhead trout, coho salmon, and king salmon. Eric provided great instruction as none of us had fishing experience. Loved it all! See more..
