The Kids' Favorite Part of St Joseph
My kids loved this splash pad. It is pretty big, close to the beach, and got them soaked! Their favorite part was when the fountains would go down, and the cannons would begin to shoot water into the center. All the kids (and even the adults) run into the center to get ready for that. I got to hang out on a bench and watch the soaked chaos. As others have stated, there is no shade to be found, which is the only drawback. So if you are there on a sunny day, put on the sunscreen and bring plenty of water!

One of the best splash pads
We've been to a lot of splash pads, and this is one of the best ones. The canons are impressive and the kids had a great time. Friday night there was an outdoor movie in the adjacent park which was pretty awesome.

Happy Memories
On a recent trip to St. Joe, my wife and I ate a picnic on the bluff and watched the children playing in the water at the Whirlpool Compass Fountain. The more loudly the children laughed and played, the more kids arrived to join the fun. We remarked to each other that the adults will remember relaxing on the sands at Silver Beach, but among the children's most happy memories will be splashing in the water at the Whirlpool Fountain. My guess is, the kids would rate it a 10 on a 10-point scale--and will lobby their parents to return to St. Joe on future vacations.
