Amazing

For a town the size of Traverse City, the library is phenomenal. It is very large (2 stories), computer room, rows of periodicals and books galore. The staff are knowledgeable and service oriented. Checkout is easy and the on-line access for reserving or availability checking is excellent. Well done TC.

    A bookworm's hideout!
This is a GREAT library with friendly, helpful staff. A great selection of movies and audio books is an added bonus to the fine library of reference, fiction and periodicals. A great and relaxing view of the lake and a walking garden round out the location.

    Best Northern Library in MIchigan
The main library of the TADL is a true gem for the community and truly an amazing resource for its patrons in the Traverse City area. The facility is not new but was built with pride and vision just 20 years ago. It has incredible views of Boardman Lake and is spacious and light filled during the day. Of special note is the Sight and Sound department, which has the largest collection of DVD's and CD's in the midwest, not to mention access to all of the incredible films that have screened in the hugely popular film festival every year. This main library hosts a wide variety of events as well during the year and is often the center of attention for workshops, presentations and childrens activities. There are few weak points to this amazing facility, however it does get heavily patronized by the nearby homeless shelter, which is more something to be mindful of rather than be fearful about. Overall, its one of the true great things about Traverse City in general, and without a doubt a place you should patronize with pride and appreciation.
