Just a fantastic travel experience. Unique, awesome in scale, appeals to a wide array of audiences. I loved seeing all of the different Air Force One's- neat to see their development (including FDR's wheelchair component) and to see the plane where LBJ took the oath. The kids loved the VR things (which have an additional cost but since the museum is free otherwise it's not too bad). The kids can explore and walk around in planes. We were there for like 2 hours and only saw a small part. It's a fantastic travel experience and highly recommend if you are anywhere in southwest Ohio. The kids loved it (6 and 12) and I and the wife loved it, which is often hard to make everyone happy but this nails it. I want to go back and see the rest.See more..

I'm a car fan but don't know much about Packards. This small museum contains) Packards dating back to 1906. 4.5Frank Lloyd Wright's Westcott House(264 reviews) - Good Restoration of a Prairie Style Home Sunday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
The Westcott House was built in 1908 for Burton J. And Orpha L. Westcott. The Westcott property is the only Prairie style house designed by Wright in the state of Ohio. The grounds include the main house and a garage with pony stable connected by an extensive pergola. In 1946, due to the housing crisis following World War II, the house was divided into multiple apartments. The house no longer reflected the vision of its architect. The original furniture and most of the original light fixtures and other details were removed from the house. Lack of resources led to an extreme deterioration of the structure. The house has recently undergone a multi-million restoration. Each of its features - from art glass to original hardware and hand-decorated encaustic walls to massive urns - has been returned to its 1908 appearance. Furniture has been rebuilt according to Wright's specifications and gardens re-landscaped in keeping with the time. The house is now managed by a non-profit organization.See more..

4.5Yoder's Amish Home(260 reviews) - Very informative Sunday: Speciality Museums
We purchased the package at $13 each. This includes the guided tours through the house and barn, buggy rides, and schoolhouse tour. Going through the house tours, the guide explains the beliefs of the Amish and the history behind the farm. The house tour ends with the bakery on the first floor. We purchased a loaf of bread, some jams/jellies, and sweets on the honor system. Afterwards, we had a picnic at the provided picnic tables on the property. The barn is 136 years old and has great workmanship. It also has some barn animals to pet. The buggy ride was nice with good conversation with the driver. It is short, but that is to be expected. The schoolroom tour tells how the Amish are educated and what is taught. Since we are educators, we found it quite interesting. See more..

Married couple with no kids. A very neat place to explore and enjoy the weird. Got "lost" for 2 hours. Definitely had some dark corners to get sucked into. Highly recommend for those who just wanna be and exist. My recommendations for this place for improvement: 1) Have employees flush out excessive lingering persons from certain areas so that everyone can have a chance to experience each nook-and-cranny (the monster-mouth area had a large group of stubborn teenagers who vocalized their irritation at other kids wishing to explore) 2) Continuous flow of refilling/rechecking hand sanitation stations as many were out, and 3) employees making sure children aren't running at an unsafe speed and pushing others out of the way.See more..

4.5Campus Martius Museum(169 reviews) - Ohio History Right Before Your Eyes Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 AM Speciality Museums
I was a history major in college and once taught Ohio history so getting to see this building was incredible for me. Not only is the oldest home in Ohio located there but the oldest building in Ohio as well. This is truly a historical treasure and it was awesome that the people over the last centuries managed to preserve such a vital part of history. If you go, please take the tour. The tour guide was informative and truly explained a great deal about the buildings, their significance and how they remain to this day. The cost of admission is $7 but I would highly recommend getting a membership to the Ohio History Connection, which was $50 but allows you to visit over 50 Ohio Historical locations for free as well as some reciprocal locations around the country.See more..

5.0David Warther Carvings(140 reviews) - Don't Miss This One! Sunday: Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
We heard about David Warther's carvings/ museum 2 years ago. Now that we've made it back to see this exhibit, we can honestly endorse this 1000% Deep, beautiful & accurate carvings with scrimshaw and more. Intricate work with handmade hairline strings of ivory depicting rope. And best of all David was present and stepped away from his in-house workshop to kindly speak with us. Don't skip a visit to the David Warther Museum! PS - the very first boats David made when he was 6 years old were on display. And he told us of a family vacation to Nantucket when he was just 11 years old. A friend of the family took him aside to give him a two minute skrimshaw lesson. Combined with a love of history, those 2 minutes set him on a course like no one else. See more..

Many family members have owned Packard cars and still rave about them so many years later. I was somewhat aware of the local connection to Ohio, but while we were not far from Warren we decided to visit the National Packard Museum. This is a very nice museum with an amazing collection of cars and history. Cars from all 4 years when Packards were built in Warren; a beautiful Packard convertible purchased by Howard Hughes for his wife; examples of Packard's contributions to the war effort. This is not a museum that you finish in 30min and forget, this is a solid multi-hour experience that will make you really appreciate the Packards and what was born in Warren. Also if you're wondering, the museum is well setup to be a safe place during this pandemic with good health safety measures and the ability to enjoy the museum and still be socially distant. Check it out, it is worth a drive to visit.See more..

4.5Ohio River Museum(93 reviews) - A Learning Experience. Speciality Museums
Entry is free for military and retired military with ID card, otherwise, it is $7.00 to visit the museum and the historic W.P. Snyder Jr. paddle-wheel tow boat. There are three smaller rooms with a number of artifacts and a large number of excellent models of boats that plied the Ohio River and its tributaries in years gone by. The most interesting exhibit, though, is the W.P Snyder Jr. A guide will come scoop you up after a while if you wish the tour. He was very knowledgeable and able to answer any and all questions about the boat which was delivered, under its own steam, to the museum in 1955. It is a listed National Historic Landmark. He refused a tip and suggested I put it into the jar for preservation of the boat. Of all the things we learned during our visit, the most interesting was that the bottom of the Ohio River is lined with the ashes of the coal burned by the old steamers. And yes, that "lining" is not good for the river's health.See more..
4.5Glass Pavilion(90 reviews) - Learned so much Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
I rate this as an excellent museum because i learned so much from it. The docents/volunteers were generous in sharing their knowledge with us and their love of glass/art/history. The hour spent there was a mixture of amazement that glass has been around for so long ( since thousands of years b.c. ) and awe that pieces of it have survived intact for so long. Also enjoyed seeing the many modern pieces of art glass.See more..

4.5Allen County Museum(82 reviews) - grand-daughter wanted to visit a museum Speciality Museums
We had our grand-daughter with us for a few days and my wife asked her 'what do you want to do this afternoon?' and she said "go to a museum'. We had taken her to the places close to us already and suggested the Allen County Museum and she said "fine" an so we went. We got there about 2:30pm on this Saturday afternoon and they close at 4pm. We had not allotted enough time to really 'do' this museum. It was a great experience ... lots of exhibits that were very interesting, especially the model train room and it's contents. The 'suggested donation' is $5.00 per person ... it's value is worth a lot more. We will return !See more..

The museum staff was very friendly and helpful during my visit. It's a smaller museum that will take up a good three hours to visit. One could spend longer there, but that was just enough for me. I liked the displays and the stories behind the displays. Worth the entrance fee and worth seeing.See more..

You won't want to miss the antique pedal cars, Texaco promotional gimmicks or the classic collection of automobile decanters, some still holding their original Jim Beam brew. When you've had your fill of these "time machines" wheel into a spectacular showroom of dream cars from the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s. The Snooks' eclectic collection reflects the elegance of years past.
