Main public beach area of the park was excellent. Arrived there around 10am and it wasn't too crowded, however crowd increased as the afternoon went on. Overall, the park/beach area are very good. Really wish the facilities were updated and maintained. Nice views of Lake Erie, which is the main attraction here. Good walking/biking path along the shoreline. Ample parking. Good place to spend a day.See more..
4.0Huntington Beach(131 reviews) - Wonderful Public Beach Beaches
What a great long beach Huntington is. Easy location in Bay Village with large parking lot. Weekdays are quiet with plenty of parking but weekend are busy during warm weather. There is a great cliff top trail or you can climbdown the long staircase to walk the beach or swim during the summer. There are new clean restrooms, a picnic pavilion (closed during Covid) and a concession stand being built for 2021 season. The park is a great place to exercise young or old. Enjoy.See more..
4.5Lakeview Park(123 reviews) - Little Gem Saturday: 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
While staying in Lorain county we decided to visit Lake Erie and see about any beaches that might be in the area. We came across Lakeview Park where it was a pretty park where you could park your car and get out and travel down the concrete path to the beach. You could see the Lorraine lighthouse in the distance while on the concrete path or you can also takeoff your shoes and step into the sand and walk along the beach. There is a small playground where some little kids were playing with their parents as well as a little library on the beach which was a shipping container converted into a little library. You can also walk up some stairs from the beach to the parking lot which was set up kind of like a amphitheater style and take some pretty pictures of the lake and the beach and the breakers that were out there, you can see ships and rainbows, it was quite nice. Will go back again on the next trip to the lake.See more..
It's a living lake so don't go by reviews of the conditions at the time people review it. The Lake looks clear under certain conditions, and it looks uninviting when the winds kick up the sand and the bottom of the lake. Yes, from time to time you will see a dead fish but that is nature. What this hidden gem brings is a great expanse of sandy beach at a bargain price of $5 parking fee. There is family owned restaurant that is not mentioned but should be: The Sand Bar. It is a native favorite with daily blue plate specials. You have to drive or walk a few blocks to hometown restaurants like Berardi's or Marconis (just dinner). But dress accordingly in shorts and shirts.See more..
Definitely a small beach if you are comparing it to the beaches of the Atlantic. Despite the size nice place for a stroll, play in the lake, watch the boats come in and out of the nearby marina. Most importantly though it’s a beautiful place to catch the sunset. Not many facilities down at the beach. There is a porta potty by the lighthouses but the nearest restroom is up at Exchange Park (Main St and Liberty Ave). Worth the visit while in town.See more..
4.0Walnut Beach(62 reviews) - Clean and large beach Beaches
Great beach! Like how they have clean ready rooms a park and what looked like a food stand also. The beach is clean with trash cans around, so no excuse for trash to being laying around! It’s a large beach compared to many along Lake Erie. If you’re looking for a great place to search for beach glass this is the beach to look.See more..
Others have written about this pleasant little park’s virtues and vices (admittedly, we didn’t have the occasion to notice most of either, since we spent only a short time there in the course of an otherwise unrelated trip) so I shall only add that if you are a bird/animal lover, you might be interested to know that there is a pond, protected by an unobtrusive metal fence, FULL of various species of ducks, geese, even swans, and other waterfowl enjoying themselves in a protected space for them. They apparently feel safe there, since they exit the pond at will and we almost hit a duck strutting nonchalantly across the park road, so drive carefully! One can buy bird feed from coin- operated vending machines wherewith to sustain our feathered friends. This park was a high point of our drive. See more..
We stopped here on a Saturday in July for a little day trip. Its $3 for non residents and $2 for Lake county residents. There is plenty of paved parking, restrooms, snack bar & rental shack to rent paddle boards & Kayaks. The beach is small and was busy, they have a roped off swimming section and you have to stay in the roped off area or the lifeguards will blow the whistle at you...LOL. This is a great beach for kids water doesn't get super deep and sand is nice and soft. We would come back to this beach was a good experience.See more..
4.5Rocky River Park(12 reviews) - Little Gem Beaches • Playgrounds
Rocky River park is small, well maintained and beautiful. It is a gem of the City. Folks bring their lunch or use the pavilion. I walk my dogs every day. This winter they added Christmas lights on Beachcliff Drive. Very nice touch. See more..
4.0Crystal Beach(5 reviews) - Dog Friendly Beach Beaches
The scenery from this beach is terrific. We brought food from the Pizza Cottage that was nearby. Withe our dog our side, we (2 adults, 3 children...12,15 and 17) sat at a picnic table, enjoyed the pizza and watched the activity on the water. Very nice beach and picnic area!See more..
5.0Columbia Park(2 reviews) - This little park is a local gem Saturday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Beaches • Parks
Unassuming, with a small parking lot across the street, Columbia Park packs in some views and water access. Enjoy a picnic at the provided table or take the steps down to a waterfall and secluded beach. We loved the beauty here and it’s very peaceful. You could launch a kayak from here if you can get it down the steps. Really enjoyed our time here and listening to the falls while looking out over Lake Erie.See more..
5.0Fox Island State Park(1 review) - Great little quiet beach, good sailboat launch Beaches • Parks
We were here for a week or so. We brought our small catamaran to launch from the beach. It was perfect - accessible and convenient. It’s a small, quiet and friendly beach - not crowded, especially weekdays. Lots of nice old trees and shade, too.See more..
