Nice tour around 45 minutes long (must call ahead). First you get the history of the two companies and get to see about the cacao bean/pod. Then you go upstairs and watch employees in the factory make candy, package it and sent it off. Last you go into the store and get a free sample and can buy any other chocolate you would want. Great factory tour. We showed up only expecting to see the Mother Ship museum since all the your tickets were sold out on line. To our great surprise we were able to get in for the tour! The attention to detail in assembling these land yachts is impressive! The museum was delightful. Wish we could have seen further into the units. Still it was impressive! Worth the slight jaunt off the beaten path! See more..
  3. 4.5 Columbus Washboard (49 reviews)
    - A made in USA Treasure!
    Sunday: Factory Tours

We literally fell upon this very unique place when walking down the Main Street of Logan. The owner of the company Jackie greeted us at the door and was such a warm, personable and passionate person who showed us her amazing collection of antique washboards and how washboards are still made today at this new location into which they moved only a few months ago. You can’t be too old or too young to appreciate this unique place and a product that is a rare find today. The company generously donated many washboards to our troops in the Mideast where they were actively used and much appreciated. Such great history surrounding a beautiful, simple, low-tech product that is still sold and made exclusively in the USA! This special place is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. See more..

    - Shop and a factory tour
    Sunday: Factory Tours

We came to visit after taking a tour of the local glass museum. The intrepretor recommended that we stop at the factory. The tour was free and the guide was kind. We found the process very interesting and we're very glad to have gotten the opportunity to watch the glass workers. There is a store there that you can purchase a piece or two or more. See more..
  5. 3.5 Longaberger Basket Factory (31 reviews)
    - Apple basket has been restored!
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Factory Tours

Sadly Longaberger is now defunct. However you can still see a few relics of their history. Frazeysburg is the home of their old homestead and they have the giant apple basket. For a while now it has been falling apart and we were expecting to see the stripped and deteriorating basket. However, we were shocked to find this beautiful black and white fully restored basket. I don’t know how did the restoration or if they are maintaining it, but this was a very pleasant side trip. See more..
  6. 5.0 Phoenix Bats (11 reviews)
    - Little place with big hitting power
    Sunday: Factory Tours
    Phoenix Bats image
This was a delightful surprise. We had been to the "other" bat place, but this place was inviting and personal. We took the Wed evening tour and were provided with lots of interesting pieces of information and a little bat as a souvenir. It is out of the way, but a great find. While in the area, also check out Der Dutchman restaurant. See more..
  7. 5.0 KitchenAid Experience Retail Center (4 reviews)
    - Real factory tour, safety glasses and all, shows you how iconic KitchenAid mixers are born
    Sunday: Factory Tours
    KitchenAid Experience Retail Center image
KitchenAid graciously offers free factory tours, giving you a first-hand look at how high-quality appliances are made by humans and a few robotic arms. It is really fascinating to see what it takes to produce an iconic consumer product, and fun to see the zillions of new colors that are proudly on display. There's lots of action on the factory floor, and none of it stops for the tours, so children under 12 are not permitted and they are very strict about your wearing CLOSED-TOE SHOES. (Remember that requirement; a person who wanted to tour when we did was kept back in the lobby because of her sandals.) They would not let visitors out onto the floor without (supplied) safety vests and glasses, and you heard your guide through an audio unit so she didn't have to yell, given the noisy production environment. This is a fascinating experience whether or not you are a KitchenAid owner, and a great thing to do if you are in the area. See more..
  8. 2.5 Bluffton Slaw Cutter Factory (3 reviews)
    - What a quaint step back in time

I went here expecting to take a step back in time, and man was I right. It's not every day that you can walk into a business, that is almost exactly as it was over 100 years ago. This place has the old wood floors, the vintage building facade, and the long out dated single shaft power system that runs every machine in it. They are powered by really wide belt's, made of leather I believe. The products are still made today, exactly as they were on day one, by one man. And he really enjoys giving the tour to anyone willing to listen. They are by appointment, so make sure to be responsible, and call ahead. The downtown is vibrant, and very interesting. Great food, great people, and a neat little experience all together. Thanks for keeping an American Icon alive! See more..
