5.0Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum(751 reviews) - Beautiful trees and surroundings Saturday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas • Cemeteries
My wife wanted me to go here and I was not excited as I pictured it as a normal cemetery, but it is very beautiful and well landscaped. My wife an dI went with some friends. It is very old and many of the important wealthy families of Cincinnati past seem to be buried here. Very big and impressive grave markers are all over the place, with a beautiful lake and fountain. Many grave markers of people who died in the 1800s. We should have picked up a map as you can get lost wandering around the many circular roads. It is very relaxing to wander around. It is hard to describe but if you like leisurely walking around mature trees and seeing historic parts of our Cincinnati past, I urge you to go check it out yourself. I am told it is located in the Northside section of town.See more..

4.5Mound Cemetery(111 reviews) - One of the most unique cemeteries in the USA. Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
This old cemetery is located in the middle of an old residential of Marietta. Easy to access, there is street parking, not drivable inside the cemetery. There are many of the early settlers of Marietta buried here including Revolutionary War veterans. The Mound is located in the center of the cemetery and is said to be the burial site of ancient Chieftans. It is circled by a deep moat, but on one side there is a path and concrete steps that lead to the top. These types of ancient mounds are considered sacred and should not be walked on, so I am not sure why or when these steps were installed. I have heard that perhaps ancient ceremonies were held at the top, hence it may have been thought permissible to create these modern age cement steps. At the top there is a buried time capsule installed in 1976 and to be opened in 2076. This is very unique place to visit. It is said that there are more Revolutionary War officers buried here than in any other cemetery in the USA.See more..
It’s a beautiful little spot. There is only one parking area. The area is surrounded by private homes and people on the water. It was a heavily populated area, so the noise level was pretty high. The markers and signs contained lots of information on the buildings and the way the POWs had to live. See more..
Had an amazing few hours touring Glendale. I did a drive through first to check it out and couldnt believe how big it is! I parked right on the side of the drive areas and walked with my dog around each section. I felt very safe and took so many amazing pictures! 5.0Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery(20 reviews) - "Most impressive benefit of my military service" Spent 1-2 hours Cemeteries • Monuments & Statues • Scenic Walking Areas
one of the best benefits of my military service is the availability of both myself and my wife being laid to rest in this beautiful memorial park. On my weekly visit to my late wife's grave, I am always impressed with how well the cemetery is maintained and how hard the grounds crew works to keep it that way. I have visited her weekly for the past 3 years and it is always worth the visit.See more..

This community of facilities for older folks is nestled along the Little Miami River and the grounds are historic and peaceful. They connect to a local park and historic cemetery as well as the grounds of the Jesuit Spiritual and Education Center. Of note to folks traveling by and on the S.E.M. grounds is a small yet open area cemetery with many religious priests buried there. Many of them date to the 1800;s and are in very good condition. 4.0Mound Hill Cemetery(1 review) - Grave of Giants Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries • Monuments & Statues New York has a whole team of Giants, but in the 1800's, Ohio was home to a family of giants. Martin Van Buren Bates never achieved the political stature of his name sake, but he far surpassed the fairly short president in physical stature. Bates was born in Kentucky in 1837 as a normal sized child but experienced a tremendous growth spurt as a child, reaching seven feet tall before reaching his teens. He finally topped off at eight feet tall and nearly four hundred pounds. During the civil war, he fought for the south and earned the rank of captain. Union adversaries said he was tall as two men and fought like 50. After the war, he toured with a circus, met and married a woman named Anna who also happened to be eight feet tall, and settled down in Seville Ohio. The couple had a 23 pound son who did not survive. Imagine that labor, ladies. Anna died shortly after. Captain Bates erected a life size statue of his wife at her grave. He remarried and lived until 1919, when he joined his wife and son in the family plot. A sign just inside the main entrance directs visitors to the Bates' final resting place. The entire cemetery is called mound city because it is on top of an Indian mound with the earliest settlers at the top.See more..
