Make this your next daytrip destination!
Truly this museum is a hidden gem! I first visited the Kent State Museum more than 20 years ago when a friend had some of his collection exhibited there. And since then, I've been back there a number of times for exhibits and events, each time bringing one or more friends. Every one of my visits has been interesting and fun, especially walking through the exhibits with a friend. There is a permanent fashion history timeline exhibit which illustrates how fashions have changed over the last couple centuries; the individual fashions change so the exhibit is fresh on each visit. The changing exhibitions are always interesting! Currently there are exhibits relating to 50th anniversary of the Kent State Shootings which occurred on May 4, 1970: Culture/Counterculture Fashions of the 1960s and 1970s; and Wearing Justice, an exhibit of new fashions inspired by the event and the era. To learn more about the museum, its origins, its collections, and past exhibitions, check out the museum website. Given the museum's proximity to Akron and its cultural and historic institutions, you can easily make this a fun=filled day.

    Hidden Gem
The Kent State Museum is actually the Fashion Museum and by the labeling, it can often get overlooked. Nice for a short visit for about an hour. Really, it's a different experience than what we're used to in this area.
