Don't Miss This One!

We heard about David Warther's carvings/ museum 2 years ago. Now that we've made it back to see this exhibit, we can honestly endorse this 1000% Deep, beautiful & accurate carvings with scrimshaw and more. Intricate work with handmade hairline strings of ivory depicting rope. And best of all David was present and stepped away from his in-house workshop to kindly speak with us. Don't skip a visit to the David Warther Museum! PS - the very first boats David made when he was 6 years old were on display. And he told us of a family vacation to Nantucket when he was just 11 years old. A friend of the family took him aside to give him a two minute skrimshaw lesson. Combined with a love of history, those 2 minutes set him on a course like no one else.

    Impressive
We’ve been going to stop here for years and finally did. I can’t figure out why we waited so long. Our tour guide showed their favorites in each room but we could go back and examine them at our leisure. The artist, David, came out to talk to us about the process he uses and give a little demonstration. He talked about his prices and his tools. There is a window into his workshop so guests and watch him work. Each carving is beautifully done.

    Amazing work
After seeing his grandfather's work, we decided to go to see David's work as well. The museum runs continuous tours and we were taken to join one already in progress. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and actually David Warther was there working. He came out to speak to our group and showed how he did some of his techniques. His work is exquisite! There were an astounding number of works on display. The gift shop had quite a variety of items to browse.
