Ohio History Right Before Your Eyes
I was a history major in college and once taught Ohio history so getting to see this building was incredible for me. Not only is the oldest home in Ohio located there but the oldest building in Ohio as well. This is truly a historical treasure and it was awesome that the people over the last centuries managed to preserve such a vital part of history. If you go, please take the tour. The tour guide was informative and truly explained a great deal about the buildings, their significance and how they remain to this day. The cost of admission is $7 but I would highly recommend getting a membership to the Ohio History Connection, which was $50 but allows you to visit over 50 Ohio Historical locations for free as well as some reciprocal locations around the country.

Excelletnt! Include the tour of the original Putnam house.
This Museum was on our itinerary, but we were lucky enough to be able to have a tour of the Putnam house as well- the museum was built around the original structure which has not moved. It’s as authentic an original dwelling from ~1800 you will find (the windows being a notable exception). Excellent history of the area. Very informative.

Interesting Old School Museum
This is a medium-sized museum that covers the beginnings of the Northwest Territory (the area north and west of the Ohio River, now comprising the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and part of Minnesota), with special emphasis on the early settlements in southeast Ohio. It is well done in an old school sort of way. There are no interactive exhibits or video screens, but if you're willing to do a lot of reading, there are a lot of well presented exhibits. The staff was friendly and helpful, the museum was well laid out and clean, and the admission price reasonable. My husband and I spent five hours on the three floors, including a 45 minute tour of the Rufus Putnum house which is included in the admission fee.
