Glass Pavilion, Ohio, United States

4.5 (90 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #11 in Toledo Speciality Museums

Learned so much

I rate this as an excellent museum because i learned so much from it. The docents/volunteers were generous in sharing their knowledge with us and their love of glass/art/history. The hour spent there was a mixture of amazement that glass has been around for so long ( since thousands of years b.c. ) and awe that pieces of it have survived intact for so long. Also enjoyed seeing the many modern pieces of art glass.

    Fabulous Pavilion to visit
The Glass Pavilion is fabulous. It is not too big but still hosts a really good and diverse collection of glass works (which we love to see). We really enjoyed wandering around the collection. Well worth visiting. It is right across from the Museum of Art so you can stop there too. Both are free of charge.

    Impressive Collection
Everything made of glass you could possibly think of. The collection and artistry outstanding. Watched an artisan make a large glass vase. The process required the work of at least 6 individuals. It was like watching a dance or play in some ways. Every person had their job to do to bring the piece to life. The demonstration was free. The pavilion is part of the art museum, but across the street. You can pick-up a ticket when you get your art museum ticket. Well worth the visit.
