The Museum celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886: it relates its history and tells its stories, bringing both alive by placing them in the context of technology, day-to-day life, social history and popular culture. More than 160 vehicles of all types are the main protagonists. They range from some of the oldest automobiles ever built to legendary racing cars and futuristic research vehicles. Together with other exhibits, they form the centrepiece of the permanent exhibition covering a total of 16,500 square metres in twelve rooms. This unparalleled world can be discovered on two tours that follow a 'Legend' and 'Collection' narrative. See more..

    Porsche Museum image
Visited in mid-February 2023 while in Stuttgart. Amazing experience! Took a 911/718 factory tour and visited the museum afterwards. It was fantastic seeing 911s/718s in production (cameras/phones not allowed). The tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable! Impressive building and well laid out museum. I was there for at least three hours. Using the audio guide enriches the museum experience. So much to learn about the history of Porsche. For car (performance) enthusiasts, it is really easy to spend a full day at the Porsche museum. Factory tours are booked online but are paid for on-site. See more..

Auto & Technik Museum (Automobile and Technology Museum) image
We happened upon this fantastic museum, and it was amazing. Airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, and WWII equipment I could have stayed here all day, but we were on a tight schedule. You can enter the Concord as well as other aircraft mounted on the roof, so I can now say I've gone in both a Concord and a Tupolev TU-144. The design is excellent, and the collection is extensive. If you're looking for North American equipment, you won't find much. See more..

    - Nice museum but expensive to enter
    Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
    Faberge Museum image
The austere sign outside lures you in & the name - Fabergé. But, it's not cheap to enter & in hindsight, I would say not worth the price. The museum is over 2 floors & gives the history of Fabergé & how he came to be famous. The majority of exhibits have a QR code that you need to scan with a mobile phone to receive an explanation. There are some nice pieces but not the elusive Fabergé eggs that are famous See more..

Visited in corona time, so not everything was open. Had a great time with 2 adults and 1 child of 5. Really cute animals of all sorts, especially the story that starts the museum is nice and cute. Our son loved the snake slide, which is for adults too. Friendly staff which led us to English ‘fuhrung’. 75 minutes of fun for 10 euros. Good deal. See more..

  12. 4.5 Kunsthalle Würth Museum (234 reviews)
    - Free art and a superb panoramic view over the town
Saturday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Kunsthalle Würth Museum image
The more modern section of the collection Würth. It has many excellent expositions and also which works are shown from their own collection seems to rotate (as none of the works on googled pictures where on display now, and vice versa). The Würth family deserves a big compliment for making art accessible to the big public like this and not asking any entry fee at all. The terrace in front of the entrance offers one of the best panoramic views over the old centre that Schwäbisch Hall has to offer. See more..

Beautiful glasswork is sold in this shop/museum. Glass pieces are reasonably priced and we found the museum interesting. It was €6 each to enter the museum part and for €25 you can design your own vase. It was very interesting to watch and we loved the beautiful vase we came away with! We also ate lunch in the bistro. The German cuisine was reasonably priced and delicious. Would definitely return if we are in the area again! See more..
  15. 4.0 Black Forest Museum (Schwarzwaldmuseum) (220 reviews)
    - More than I expected
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Black Forest Museum (Schwarzwaldmuseum) image
From the outside the museum doesn’t look very large but they definitely use all available space. There are exhibits on the mining and cultural heritage of the area. Beyond that there are displays on clocks, organs and even the local radio manufacturers. It was a really interesting way to spend a few hours (2 tops) and everyone seemed to enjoy it. There are some devices that you can pay a few euro and they will play. My kids liked that. So if you have kids or just like things like that, have 1-2 coins on hand. You won’t be disappointed. 17. 4.0 State Museum of Baden (187 reviews)
    - What a beautiful place
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
    State Museum of Baden image
I love Schloss Karlsruhe. The interior decoration is beautiful and incredibly well preserved. The garden is peaceful and really nice. The way the Palace (Schloss) is situated and the way the city streets radiate out from the Palace, gives the city Karlsruhe the name Faecherstadt (Fan City). Nearby is the Marktplatz with its Pyramid, the resting place of the City's founder - very interesting. Also interesting is how Karlsruhe (Charles Rest) got its name and why the Palace was build at this location. According to legend, Charles William III, resting at the exact place where the Palace now stands, woke from his sleep, in which he was dreaming of a new city. And don't forget the Badisches Landesmuseum, taking up a large portion of the Palace rooms. It is one of the best museums and highlights the incredible history of the region and the city. A must see. The exhibition in the Museum of Bread and Art has two parts. Art is on one side, and topics such as bread, everyday life, nutrition, and consumption are on the other side. There are cultural dimensions to both parts: it is about understanding and interpreting the world around us, especially the exploration of the spaces in between stereotypes and popular conceptions. The two halves complement each other. This is what makes this museum so special. See more..

Don't forget your binoculars you will want to see the birds up close! This round trip 3km walk is well worth the 2,50 euros a person or for a family 5 Euros. There are lots of benches along the way to sit, listen and watch the birds. Two lookout stations provide ample space to get a good look. It would be helpful to have the birds of the area downloaded onto your phone so you can identify them easily. The Walkway has rails but there are not "child proofed". just in town is the office of the national park for the area but check business hours. We visited here because of a promise to my 16 year old grandson and it was really great. The number of vehicles starting with the historical pre-Mercedes Benz vehicles, the versatility displayed by all the implements and attachments and the information given with each display was very well done. The ride along in a modern vehicle over a well designed obstacle/off-road course, experiencing just a fraction of the vehicles capabilities was worth the visit alone. You can experience this museum in about 60 to 120 minutes, so it will not bore those with you that are not as enthused about off-roading as you may be. See more..
