    I have a little closer connection to Lahr than some - I served (lived) in Lahr for three years in the 1980s and I have relatives living there to this day. But I must say my knowledge of Lahr's history was limited. This museum helps fill in the gaps a lot. But first you have to find it! I had difficulty. I knew roughly where it was but there was no obvious sign indicating it. On closer look, there is a small sign at the exit, but not the entrance! Anyway, it in the Museumplatz, steps from Mueller and DM and the Storchenturm. Entrance is Euro 3, with various scales according to age, infirmity, etc. It's a newly renovated space, in an older (red stone) boilding,so very modern inside, bright and airy (but nondescript and plain outside, "Old" looking). There are three floors, the lower being Lahr's history (this is quite interesting). The second floor is industrial Lahr (and what a lot of light industry there was and still is!), plus the especially appealing history of Lahr as a military garrison - German, French and Canadian. The third floor is for temporary displays, and when I was there it covered refugees in Europe. The first two floors have just about everything audio and visual in nature in German, English and French. I suspect you need about 2 hours to see everything fully. Well worth the time! See more..
