We used Black Forest Tours to book a 2 hour walking tour of the old town of Freiburg and an all day exploration of the western part of the Black Forest. We had the same terrific guide for both, Annemarie Schaaf. Our group was 5 adults and five teens. The choice of locations and activities by Simone of the Tour company were also just right for this group. Last summer, my husband and I went on an Alternative Tour of Heidelberg with Henry. We enjoyed the tour so much that we booked a longer, private tour for our December trip. Our 21-year-old son joined us for the winter tour. We all enjoyed a three-hour walking tour filled with interesting stories, history, and a beautiful time at the castle. We even got recommendations for nearby restaurants with vegan offerings and popped in to see Heidelberg's only microbrewery. We would highly recommend Henry Heidelberg Tours.See more..

Our tour with Manfred was one of the highlights of our entire trip. First, he was amazingly accommodating with all of our trip requests. Ask him for any special trip ideas, he will make them happen, or let him plan your entire trip - he's an expert! Second, his recommendation for lunch was incredible: a trip into the mountains to a farmhouse with excellent food, beautiful scenery and expert conversation. Nice little gem on River Rhein. The old city (Kaiserstrasse) is intact from medieval times. Lots of shops and cafes and restaurants. Nice to walk. The city was founded by the Habsburger around 1250. Great trip for sunny and rainy days. See more..

Zentral in Balingen liegt der Balinger Marktplatz. Hier finden mehrfach im Jahr Open-Air-Events mit bekannten Künstlern statt. An Samstagen wird er zudem für den Wochenmarkt genutzt und in der Vorweihnachtszeit ist er Domizil des "Christkindlesmarktes". Am westlichen Ende steht die Evangelische Stadtkirche mit ihrem imposanten 8-eckigen Turm. Links neben der Kirche sitzt der "Nackte Mann" - eine Bronzeskulptur. Unweit davon in der Mitte des Marktbrunnens steht Ritter Ulrich. Wen die Figur wirklich darstellt, ist offen. Von den Balingern jedoch wurde er als „Ulrich“ (Herzog Ulrich?) bezeichnet. Erträgt im Schild das ab 1495 geführte herzoglich-württembergische Wappen. Das Sandsteinoriginal des 1950 gefertigten Bronzeabgusses befindet sich im Heimatmuseum. Da man bei einem Stadtbesuch dem Marktplatz nicht entgehen kann, lohnt es sich, auch etwas mehr Zeit für ihn zu verwenden. Er ist nicht uninteressant.See more..

Rottweil ist die älteste Stadt Baden-Württembergs. Bereits im Jahre 1230 wurde Rottweil als Reichsstadt erwähnt. Sehr positiv zu bewerten ist auch, dass die historische Altstadt weitestgehend erhalten geblieben ist. Neben dem Besuch diverser Kirchen ist uns der Gang durch die Hauptstraße noch besonders in Erinnerung geblieben. Viele in sehr guten Zustand befindlich Gebäude säumen die Fussgängerzone und versetzten den Besucher in längst vergangene Zeiten. Jedes einzelne Anwesens ist einer näheren Betrachtung würdig. Wir waren jedenfalls begeistert und können eine solchen Besuch nur weiterempfehlen.See more..
Die Führung war ein Augen- und Ohrenschmaus. Es wurde sehr viel gelacht. Mariele, alias Sibylle Laufer, hat uns auf interessante, unterhaltsame und humorvolle Art und Weise viel Wissen sehr charmant rüber gebracht. Wir durften in einer kleinen Frauenrunde Mariele kennen lernen, die wirklich für ihre Sache lebt. Trotz verstrichener Zeit zeigte sie uns noch dies und jenes mit einer solchen Begeisterung und Leidenschaft. Es war wirklich ein Erlebnis, da Mariele uns nicht nur mit Geschichte und Geschichten gefüttert, sondern diese auch mit allen möglichen Hilfsmitteln anschaulich vermittelt hat. Es war rundrum ein gelungener Abend. Absolut zu empfehlen. Hat total Spaß gemacht!!!!See more..
Direkt sehr zentral liegt in der Hauptstraße die Touristinfo von Rottweil. Die uns bedienende Dame war sehr nett und informierte uns (teilweise fast zu umfangreich) über die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt. Alle Fragen wurden beantwortet, das für uns notwendige Infomaterial wurde ausgehändigt. Insgesamt gesehen fühlten wir uns gut aufgehoben. Wir waren jedenfalls zufrieden und können die Institution nur weiter empfehlen.See more..
