During a guided tour through the palace, visitors are able to discover the Baroque- , the Rokoko- and the Neoclassical style. We arrived about an hour before closing which means we missed the last tour, however the tickets included a free audio guide that was available in English as well. The tour guide was filled with amazing facts and explained a whole bunch of idioms in the German language, which applied very much to the nerdy linguist in me. The castle itself is stunning! And the history is fascinating. The castle sits on a cliff and overlooks the river. The different rooms are gorgeous, I don’t want to spoil them but the facts, the views and the history on the audio guide are definitely worth your time! See more..

4.5Burg Badenweiler(147 reviews) - Great view Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
The ruins of the Burg Baden sitting on top of a bare rock is a landmark of Badenweiler, a beacon you can see from afar, and it looks like something out of Grimms' Fairytales. The external walls are well preserved and you can explore inside on the ground floor, but there's not too much to see actually. nevertheless it's worth the five-minute walk up a maintained trail from the city park, since the view from the platform outside the castle rujins is spectacular. On a bright day you can see across the Rhine Valley and as far as the Vosges Mountains across the Rhine River in France, a view framed by the wooden hillsides and vineyards of the Black Forest Mountains between which the small valley Badenweiler sits in is nestled. A special occasion is the big party always celebrated at the ruins on 'Walpurgis Night' from April 30th to May 1st - a traditional spring festival observed in Central and Northern Europe - the night when the witches are out to party and dance.See more..

This castle is one of my favorites in Germany. I come back to visit every few years. It is a great place to enjoy the views and atmosphere and the countryside without crowds or many tourists. If you want a beautiful castle nearly to yourself this is your chance. It is small and a ruin, but much of the walls and gates are still intact and the tower is reopened from its restoration of a couple years ago. You can see the castle from miles around perched on top the hill. It is a photographer's dream, surrounded by vineyards, fields and the authentic German village of Weiler. The view from the tower is wonderful. You can see patchwork fields, orchards, vineyards and several other villages. There is a short walk on the walls with more views and photographic opportunities. There is a restaurant in the courtyard that has a fun and authentic atmosphere and good food and drink. Also a great stop for ice cream. Parking is available and free, as is the entrance to the tower and court yard.See more..
