4.5Thingstätte(314 reviews) - A really good hike, don't be upset if you get lost :) Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Monuments & Statues
I love hiking up to Thingstatte every now and then. Start the hike from Philosophensweg and then just figure it out on the way or ask for directions. I have been up there 3 times and still I am not sure about the route ::: I get to see new things or paths each time I go there !! It's definitely worth doing again and again!See more..
4.0Martinstor(230 reviews) - Esteemed from the 13th century Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
In the late 18th century certain interests deemed this grand tower an obstacle to evolving transport routes and wanted to demolish it. Fortunately they were persuaded otherwise by a wise Mayor and it continues to be gloriously extant, A busy tram line now runs through the central opening that was widened by the above mentioned Mayor, as part of his campaign for its preservation. One of five defensive towers in the city wall, it played a key role in warding off attackers. Gorgeous dark and light stonework is admirable. On one side a plaque with a double-headed eagle is enshrined. On the reverse an ornate rectangle has elaborate script. Clocks with golden hands and hours are towards the top on two faces.See more..
4.0Imperia(205 reviews) - Impressive statue with a meaning Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
The Imperia is a satirical allusion to the Council of Constance (1414-1418) when prostitution flourished. The statue is a sparsely dressed woman, a courtesan, holding two naked male figures, one with the papal tiara representing Pope Martin V. and the other one with an imperial crown representing the Emperor Sigismund, the two most powerful men of their time. The figure, created by the artist Peter Lenk, stands on a round table that rotates once on its own axis in four minutes. The Imperia was erected in 1993 and over time became a tourist attraction on Lake Constance. It is strange that couples hang locks on the fence of the Imperia, a courtesan, certainly not known for eternal love.See more..
4.5Schwabentor(175 reviews) - Grand old gateway Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Dating from around the mid 1200s there is a fine sense of history walking around it and through the archway. Wonderfully ornate with light and dark stone and a grand array of windows it is a treasured landmark. Frescos adorn the sides and a colourful sculptural relief is another flourish. At the tower apex is a fine clock with golden hands and hours.See more..
4.0Magische Saule(111 reviews) - A great stop off with plenty to see. Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
This little town has it all. A great atmosphere, lots of little shops and restaurants and a castle. You can stay in the main streets near the pier or climb the steep steps and explore. My only regret was we only stopped off for two hours and I would love to have stayed longer.See more..

3.5El Nino(28 reviews) - El Nino submerged, drowned, nothing to see except water and a buoy Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues

3.0Schlange über Kreuzung(25 reviews) - But... Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
WHY? Our hosts from Stuttgart could not tell us what this was (outside of it being a snake), who placed it there, when and why. Pretty amusing that we had to Google it ourselves. Really neat to see though, just after you've enjoyed the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace Gardens just across the street.See more..
4.0Des Esels Schatten(23 reviews) - Gorgeous old city Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
We stopped in Biberach on our way from Landsberg to Tubingen. What a joule of a city, and we lucked out as there was a large street market in the town centre, complete with food vans and all types of local produce. We spent nearly 2 hours wandering the streets, marvelling at the stalls and local shops, finishing with a great cappuccino at a small coffee shop.See more..
4.0Radbrunnen(22 reviews) - Great Story Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Monuments & Statues

3.5Leonberg Dog Statue(12 reviews) - Leonberger Dog Statue Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
It's just a statue, but if you love Leonbergers, this is a great photo opportunity. The history of the breed and its origin is significant for Leo owners but the statue is not well known, and is of little interest to others (we asked numerous people around town and most had never heard of it). It can be tricky to find as it is not located in the old town center. It can be found between the Amber Hotel and City Hall (Stadthalle) where Lindenbergerstraße meets Römerstraße.See more..

Silcher was one of those composers of the 19th century, who are almost forgotten. But who sings or hears the Loreley-tune on boat on the river Rhein or sings the famous christmas song: "Alle Jahre wieder" meets Friedrich Silcher, who worked in Tübingen from 1817 as the first Music-Director of the Tübingen University. Go for a walk on "Platanenallee", to see im as a statue. See more..

See more..
DOWN. These are all over Germany and it is a sobering reminder of what occurred not so long ago. Make sure to take a moment to remember the victims of the atrocity that was Nazi Germany.See more..
This is a funny statue at the entry to Staufen between the railway station and the castle ruin. It jumps into your face and during carnevale season its nakedness might get covered by condoms. 4.0Kriegerdenkmal(5 reviews) - German War Memorial Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
Many ordinary Germans died in both world wars called up for the Wehrmacht (the German Army) and this is one such war memorial to Friedrichshafen's dead from both world wars. You'll find it near the Bodensee front, under the trees in the park behind (spookily) the memorial to Kaiser Wilhelm I. It looks quite aryan and is quite striking. It's different in style to British war memorials and you won't find any direct references to the Nazis but Germany's war dead deserve a memorial too. After all these men had no real choice an despite the militaristic imagery it's a reminder of the futility of those conflicts. See more..

See more..

3.0Schelmenbaum(3 reviews) - Rascals on a tree Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Driving through the little town of Emmingen one can't miss the Schelmenbaum (picaresque tree, I would call it tree with scoundrels). Peter Lenk the artist who created this sculpture probably had some rascals in mind, politicians who in real life act like monkeys, and pretend to be more important than others.See more..
4.5Skulpturenpark Juergen Goertz(3 reviews) - Traumhafter Park mit "verrückten" Skulpturen Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
See more..
See more..

See more..
