Really enjoyed our trip up and down the hillside. We started at 900am on a hot Saturday morning and went to the top first. There are two trains to take. After getting some great photos and enjoying the view. We headed down to the castle. The price of the ticket included entry. Around 12kms south of Freiburg, and easily accessible by car or tram/bus, this is the longest cable car ride in Germany. Taking around 20 minutes, soaring over forest and valley, it's safe and sedate and spectacular at the summit, with views far across to the Vosges Mountains in France. If you are feeling energetic, take the 1km walk to the summit - and them climb the 30m observation tower to be stunned by the beauty of the Black Forest.
