We are fans of old cemeteries and this one goes back a long way. Near the entrance are graves dating back to people born in the 18th century. To find the famous grave of the young girl with the fresh flowers, head along the wall to the right assuming you enter via the entrance on the East side. This is like a quiet lane out of a romance novel. They don't get as much colour in the leaf display as Canada, but pretty good anyway at the right time of year. And the trees are good size, close to the road and healthy. The scenes transport you. Best walking or on a bike.See more..

Although quite a distance out in a rural area the final resting place of The Desert Fox is a significant spot for anyone who is historically inclined to explore. His final resting place is a small church courtyard but the plot is a nice open view and in front of it conveniently rests a bench. It is a nice little plot and very memorial of the space given to him along with the resting family. Even in the winter weather it was quite a sight. I would definitely travel again when the weather is great just to see how beautiful it can be.See more..

The key can be obtained at the Tourist Information centre (must be returned before 6 pm), you‘ll need it as the graveyard is large and is spread over a steep slope, thus one cannot overlook the graveyard from the gate. In front of the former " Eicheler Tor" (and nowadays oposite the bridge) the Jewish cemetery was established in 1406, thus amongst the oldest cemeteries in Germany, 72 headstones from 15th century remained preserved, even more of a later date. A quiet and peaceful retreat overlooking the village of Rexingen. The cemetery is rather overgrown but secure from the wild animals in the forest. We did not have a key to gain access, but a lot could be seen from the fences.See more..

Ich kenne diesen Ort bereits seit langer Zeit. Ob der deutschen Geschichte ist es einerseits sehr wichtig, dass stetig die Erinnerung an die Geschehnisse wachgehalten wird. Dass es diesen kleinen jüdischen Friedhof, neben der Synagoge im Ort, noch gibt, ist gut. Andererseits hat mich immer schon gestört, dass ein Campingplatz direkt vor dem Eingang liegt. Dennoch, ein Besuch ist für mich empfehlenswert. Bei meinem letzten Besuch in Sulzburg im Juni 2017 hätte ich mir auch gerne die Synagoge angeschaut. Diese war verschlossen. Eine Beschilderung habe ich nicht gesehen.See more..
