Fantastic view of Heidelberg and the whole valley as it was a beautiful sunny day. It takes quite a time to get to the top on Funicular railway having to change half way up from a modern one to an older smaller one. We were fortunate that we didn't have to wait too long in between changing, but can imagine at the height of the tourist season that would be quite different. On the way down we got off at the Chateau stop and spent a couple of hours there and then took the train down afterwards to the station. Not a particularly cheap experience at €14 per person but we were not perturbed. You can get food and drinks at each stop on the line if you have the time and inclination to do so. There is the option of getting to the top by foot haha! , car or bus which is cheaper of course than the railway. See more..

I loved every second I walked through this garden. It’s not only botanicals, but also has a picturesque view of Lake Constance from the gazebo sitting at the top of its hill. And you literally stop to smell the roses at the rose garden where they have different kinds. My friend told me they do remove some plants like the collection of cacti they have as they update the garden by season. See more..

We are from Vancouver Island visiting our family when they told us there is a Douglas fir with a carved bear, in the forest. Really!!. lets go see. And there it is, we were amazed. Not many Douglas Firs in Germany let alone with a carved bear and face.So if you like Douglas Firs then come to Vancouver Island and visit Cathedral Grove where they have an 800 year old tree. ` See more..
