First, the Schwartzwald is super beautiful, and the drive up was fun. Oddly enough, I never heard of the Eble Uhren-Park before and I am born and raised in Germany. My family and I decided to go and check this place out as it’s the biggest Cuk-Cuk Clock in the world. Its small and doesn’t have much to do. Everytime the hour strikes you will see the large Cuk-Cuk Bird come out. There is a museum inside that costs two euros to enter. You can see the inside of the clock how it works and some history. Then there is a souvenir shop. Overall, it is a nice little spot to stop at if you’re on your way to the Triberger Wasserfälle (Triberger Waterfalls). See more..

First of all, wonderfully crafted clocks. Mine arrived after 8 weeks and shipping time, as Oli told me. Shipping can vary a lot I read; US customs can hold things up. I have to laugh at the few people who give bad reviews mainly because they are butt-hurt about poor customer service, or more specifically, rudeness. We Americans are used to having our asses kissed by servers and salespeople. Europeans, Germans in particular, aren't likely going to meet your customer service expectations. Embrace the culture and you'll have a better experience. And by the way ... I found Oli and his sales associate to be delightful, not American, but delightfully German. Let me end with more about my clock. It arrived well-packaged, with instructions and in perfect working working condition. It is apparent in the packaging details that Oli and crew take the time to protect their artwork. I'm sure there are a few other clock makers out there that deserve their kudos as well, but Oli's place is top notch. See more..

We were enroute to Triberg to see the largest cuckoo clock and almost just passed by this place but we noticed the huge clock outside the store. Since there was a carpark located just conveniently opposite the shop, we decided to stop and see if the cuckoo clock worked. Indeed it did, and it was so fun! The shop inside was full of interesting clocks and souvenirs. The staff were friendly and took time to show us the different clocks. As we were still in the early part of our trip, we decided to buy the smallest cuckoo clock available which was just below €100, and another small one as a gift. My wife and I, as well as a couple of friends, were part of an excursion to the Black Forest on a Viking River Cruise this past April. The drive up to the shop was worth the trip. It took about 45 minutes to get to the shop. It had snowed in the hills the day before and most of the higher hills were still covered with snow. The Hofgut Sternen Shop has a very large collection of cuckoo clocks, but the star of the show for me was the demonstration of making a Black Forest Cake. Our tour group members received a 10% discount on the purchase of a piece, which was delicious. It was a good visit, especially seeing the beauty of the hills driving to the shop. See more..

The ideal starting point is on the old town square ("Marktplatz"), down to the tanners' district ("Gerberviertel") and finally the mansion's garden ("Schlossgarten"). Weinheim may not be the biggest town in Southern Germany but it does stand out for its unique city center and is well worth some 1-2h walk. See more..

I attended a glassblowing event on a Viking Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest during May/June 2022. Karl, owner (I think) of Wertheimer Glaskunst, gave the demonstration as well as his own life story (focused on the communist's taking over his native country). It was a most enjoyable event. As soon as I entered the lounge where the demonstration was held, I saw one of his sculptures (three glass fish on a stand) and immediately hoped to buy it. Fortunately, I was able to close the deal on it with Karl's wife before the demonstration even began. She said it would be three weeks before they could ship it, which was fine since we were very early in the cruise. However, I didn't receive it until a couple of days ago, three weeks later than expected. One of the fish has some scratches on it, but overall, the sculpture is lovely and was worth the wait. There are numerous tat shops along the road leading to the lake but this one tries hardest to flog you a clock. Not sure if they are indeed locally manufactured but prices seemed steep to me - they offer a shipping service but not sure in what state it'll arrive unless it's well packed. Surprisingly I saw numerous people making purchases and no doubt their clock will take pride of place on some wall looking completely out of place. However, it's not just clocks they sell - there's also a vast array of Christmas stuff (some of which is not bad) plus the usual fridge magnets and other complete tat. It doesn't really matter whether you visit this store or any of the other similar ones as they all have more or less the same merchandise at same prices. See more..

This was the highlight of our entire trip! In fact my husband surprised me with this for my birthday! My grandma use to have a coocoo clock. This small factory is owned by a family who has been hand making the Black Forest coocoo clocks for generations. Black Forest is where Hansel and Gretal got lost in the woods (kids story) We emailed ahead of time and was able to set up a time to meet, talk and do a tour. Mr Robert was very friendly and professional, showed us around, gave us history, told how clocks were made, and even gave showed us of how he carves a sample and gave to my daughter as a take home gift. We we able to see parts of the coo coo clock and how it makes it sounds etc. We saw each step of the process from the tree to the end product and testing involved. In the end we did purchase a clock but at the same time we were not pressured into one. My 11 daughter loved it. It is also in a small town which is known for the clocks but those mass produced are not handmade and are from China. The town has a nice waterfall park right by the road for a small fee to walk way up and take pics and it has the largest coocoo clock outside of one shop...My daughter ended up buying a October Festival dress..LOL..Nice one day trip or overnight trip with lunch. Karl Ittig came aboard and his demonstration, although limited due to safety on board ship. was exceptional. This man's skill is matched only by his truly wonderful sense of humour. I am only disappointed that we did not have time to go ashore and visit his business premises. Frische Wurst bekommt man geschnitten, Schwarzgeräuchertes am Stück. Einiges kann man auch verpackt mitnehmen. Auch die Fleischtheke ist umfangreich. Leckeres gibt es auch aus der Warmtheke, das man vor Ort auch gleich essen kann. Die Preise sind moderat.

Manchmal schmunzelt, manchmal staunt man, ob dieses Ideenreichtums. Natürlich haben wir den Laden nicht mit leeren Händen verlassen. Das anregende, witzige und tolle Gespräch mit dem Geschäftsführer Benjamin, werden wir in guter Erinnerung haben. Mein Bericht basiert auf einem Besuch von unserer Gruppe, die sich für die Pralinen- und Schokowelt interessiert. Zwei unterhaltsame Stunden auch mit Selbstversuchen für die Füllung . Weiße-Schokolade-Pralinen mit Maracujafüllung. Dunkle-Schokolade mit Whiskey-Füllung. Auch Schwarzwalduhren mit Nougatfüllung. Am Ende konnten wir alle unsere Produkte mitnehmen. Eine Gebühr von 10 Euro war das Geld wert.
