    High in the hills of the Black Forest encircling Baden-Baden, three castles once defended the territory of the ruling house. The Hohenbaden Old Castle was built around 1100. Several grander, lower Castles were later built and Old Castle was used as a widows residence until it was destroyed by fire in 1699. Today, Hohenbaden Old Castle is a well-preserved ruins that allow your imagination to step back in time, and offer spectacular views of the breathtaking countryside.     I love ruins and history so for me it was very interesting. the place is opened from 11 to 12 and from 3 pm to 4 pm which is kind of weird. The audioguide is included in the price, and it gives you lots of information about the place (maybe too much information, i had to skip some recordings). Romans constructed really progressive bath complex, and I recommend visiting it before going to real bath - so that you can imagine how it worked thousands of years ago. See more..

    If you visit the waterfall, it is worth taking a short walk from the top of the waterfall to the castle ruins. It is about 2 kilometers through the forest, with an ascent at the end. It is possible to reach for everyone. You do not need a good shape to reach it. The castle itself is not restored, but there are a few remains of the wall. Dreamlike, like in a picture book - an interesting castle ruin from the 11th century with an impressive view of Bad Urach and the surrounding area - mountains, forests, fields, valleys and the city with its old buildings When be there around on a nice day and you like nature - go for it!     Kastelburg dates back to the 1600s and stands on the hill above Waldkirch. I nice little climb up to it and you are rewarded with lovely views and the ruins to wander around. Best is to climb the tower to he very top - the staircase was built in recent times. And it is all open and free. A good recommendation is to do the Kastelburgtour. It is a 5 kilometre round tour walk from Waldkirsch, to the castel, then through the forest up over the hill, then back round at lower level and along the river. Splendid.     A bit challenging to find, but only about a 30 minute walk to get there if you don't screw up. I live not too far away and always bring visitors here to get into the black forest and walk to an 11th century castle ruine that few people see. The forest is growing over the site, but the burgruine is still easily accessible. There is a hotel/restaurant in Teinach Station, which you will see on the road between Calw and Zavelstein. Park across the street from the hotal and take the trail across the stream and up the hill. Near the top you will see a clearing with signs that point the way to Burgruine Waldeck. See more..

    Lohnenswert für einen kurzen Abstecher ist diese Ruine der Schenkenburg. Ursprünglich mit einer Zugbrücke gesichert befindet sich dort heute ein Holzsteg. Durch kleinere Schluchten natürlich geschützt, ab 1220 erbaut. Die überblickt einen Teil des Kinzigtals. Im Winter ist trittsicheres Schuhwerk wichtig, da die Wege glitschig sind. See more..

    Super Wanderung durch das schöne Hegau. Es geht den Berg abschnittsweise steil hinauf aber der Anstieg lohnt sich für den Blick über das gesamte Hegau zu den anderen Hegau-Bergen bis zum Bodensee und bei klarem Himmel bis zu den Alpen. Vor allem eine Wanderung bei Sonne, da der Weg großteils durch den Wald geht und daher vor Sonne und Hitze schützt. See more..

    Wir sind der Ausschilderung des Rundweges gefolgt und es war eine schöne kurze Wanderung rund um die Burgruine. Von dieser ist verständlicher Weise nicht mehr viel zu sehen aber hier gibt es schöne Aussichtspunkte und eine Brücke, über die der Rundgang wieder in die Stadt Schiltach zurück führt.     Die Reste der Burg Liebeneck sind gut erhalten und liegt sehr schön gelegen oberhalb des Würmtals.
    Da leider nur noch Ruinen vorhanden sind und der Turm nicht bestiegen werden kann, gibt es nur drei Punkte.
    Die Ruine eignet sich perfekt zum Picknick, da daneben auch ein Picknickplatz liegt.     See more..
