We absolutely loved the entire experience. The museum and the outdoor area was educational and fascinating to see ancient history.

Modern museum on top of an old roman fortification
Great modern museum about the romans in Europe, about the Limes "wall" defending the empire against the invading Huns. The best, the museum is right on top of an old roman castle, which housed at a time 1000 roman cavalry solders and was once one of the biggest on the Limes.

Worth the time
We visited the museum while staying with family in Aalen. It is well organized, has very nice displays and the outdoor area which contains the actual ruins of the Roman outpost is nice. You can actually get up close and touch the foundation stones. There is also a great re-creation of what the buildings would have been like in their actual time. the museum is with in easy walking distance of the Town center and acessible to the bus or train station.
