The office staff was very patient with all my questions and offered good descriptions of several Trips they thought would be best for our family. They were very professional and helpful Upon arrival. The setting at the river was beautiful. Keith and Spencer were excellent guides. They are very knowledgeable about fly fishing in the area and worked hard, Changing flies and moving us around to help us catch fish. We caught several fish so they did a good job directing us to the right area to snag some Fish. We’ve never fly fished before. Crystal River Jeep Tours image
First off, our guide Smitty was the nicest most knowledgeable guy in the area. We booked the transportation shuttle to the Geneva lake trailhead. He dropped us off at 2:20 after one of the most picturesque atv rides of my life. From there we hiked up to the lake which in my opinion nothing can beat these views. Every turn was a moment to be blown away by all the surrounding peaks. We got to the lake, which has massive trout, relaxed and had lunch then hiked back down to get picked up at 5:30. If you are in the area looking for places to explore, this is it! Thanks again Smitty, pleasure talking to you! See more..

A great little trail just outside of Breckinridge. Reaching the lower lake took us up close to 1500 ft of ascent. The trail can get a little twisty and hard to follow at times, but with a steady trickle of other hikers, we found our way. The alpine lake is stunning and you get a lovely waterfall on the way as well. Take it all in and enjoy the crisp air and views as you move higher and higher. See more..

We are a family of 3 with a high school daughter and two parents on the far side of the 40's. Ryan was very accommodating to our individual levels of experience and comfort. He was great at explaining the technical side of what he was doing with all the gear so that we knew what was important and that felt safe. The location was beautiful and had many different climbs and repels we could try. Ryan was very personable, patient and professional. He made it clear what we needed to bring. 20. 5.0 Ouzel Falls (81 reviews)
    - Waterfalls and Great Views!
    Waterfalls
    Ouzel Falls image
I hiked the Ouzel Falls Trail last month while visiting RMNP. If you are a fan of waterfalls then this is your hike. The trail follows rivers that have several falls and many areas of rapids. The trail gradually ascents up to Ouzel Falls and is not really difficult if you are in reasonable shape (labeled as moderate). There were many families and groups of young people on the trail which was great to see after COVID. The trail is heaviliy trafficked and you need to get there early (or like I did) later in the afternoon or you will likely have a long walk to the trailhead. This is an out and back trail- not a loop. Up all the way there and down on the way back.! Great trail with lots for cool views! See more..

  36. 5.0 Fort Collins Municipal Railway (69 reviews)
    - Beaufully restored streetcar trip back in time!
    Trams
    Fort Collins Municipal Railway image
I lived in Fort Collins for 30 years before I finally took a ride on the Trolley. I now feel like I wasted 29 of those years. They have two cars, one that is one of the original 4 cars that came to Fort Collins in 1919, and have recently restored another one that ran here in the late 40's until the service ended in 1951. Both are beautifully restored and take you on a nearly 3 mile round trip ride from City Park to Old Town. Everyone waves at the trolley, and the conductor will tell you a bit about the history of the system (which was the best, and last) in Colorado, take pictures for you, and will make sure you have a great time. Price is only $2 for adults, $1 for kids and seniors. Take a ride on the trolley, you'll be glad you did! See more..

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the ranch, and the setting was the most BEAUTIFUL around Estes! (And that is saying something!!) I would definitely recommend taking a couple hours and check it out! See more..
  38. 5.0 Dream Lake (66 reviews)
    - Very crowded but very scenic
    Bodies of Water
    Dream Lake image
This is the middle lake in the Emerald Lake Trail triad. It is gorgeous, clear water (you can see fish ) and very scenic — great views of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain. It is also very easy to get to — 1.1 miles on the trail with 425 feet of elevation rise. We hiked in the morning and the lake and the train near were very crowded — tons of people taking selfies and group pics. It did not get better on our way back from Emerald Lake, the final lake, which was 0.7 miles away up the trail. See more..

  40. 5.0 Black Bear Pass (66 reviews)
    - Better pack a lot of snacks with you
    Historic Walking Areas
    Black Bear Pass image
This trail is big time consumer! Trust me. It will take some time (unless you have rented Jeep Wrangler) to just reach bottom of trail where are hairpins that you can spot from town centre of Telluride. Sometimes you will need to make room for some off-road car. Anyway if you go by car you still need to leave it somewhere when you continue to the lakes that are couple miles from viewpoint over former power plant at the top of Bridal Veil Falls. I remember that I have spent something like 45 minutes at one rock out there. I can be someone like that character from Assassin's Creed who gets HP by staying at high view points. Anyway once again pack a lot of water and snacks with you because there are no shops or stores and it takes some time to get to one. See more..

  42. 5.0 Blue Lakes (65 reviews)
    - Rough road, but worth it!
Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
    Blue Lakes image
We drove up to the first lake, half of our group walked around the lake to the large waterfall & the other half walked up to the second lake. It’s a long steep incline up to the second lake, so unless you are used to hiking, I recommend you drive to the upper lake. The hike around the lower lake is much easier & allows for younger & older visitors to enjoy the area. The road up has recently been grated, so it’s a much easier road than the road to the first lake. At the top lake area, there is another waterfall & another lake. We saw mountain goats at the top lake. Views from above are AMAZING!! See more..
  43. 5.0 Longs Peak (65 reviews)
    - Through the keyhole....
    Mountains
    Longs Peak image
Unlike most people who summit longs, we decided to make it part of a backpacking trip.
We spent the night before the summit in the boulder field, which was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend it! It was windy, but the sunrise was worth it.

The summit climb was fun, and once through the keyhole you are treated to awesome views of the mummy range. It is a decently strenuous climb, especially the middle section known as the trough. After an hour or so stay on the summit, we descended as it began it cloud up. We made it back to our tents just in time for a afternoon hail storm, which worked well as "rocks" in our victory scotches.

  50. 5.0 West Maroon Trail (60 reviews)
    - Perfect Father-Daughter Hike
    Hiking Trails
    West Maroon Trail image
My daughter is getting married in November and we decided to do our last father-daughter trip to Aspen, with the focal point being the Aspen to Created Butte hike via the Western Maroon Trail. We secured a map and valuable info from the friendly staff at Ute Mountaineer in Aspen. We packed our backpacks with water, energy bars, and sandwiches from Annette's and hit the trail head at Maroon Lake at 7:45 am. on 4 September. That Lake is spectacular with the mountains reflecting on it. With no bear spray, we started our 7 mile climb to the pass. The diversity of the trail is fantastic - creeks, woods, hedgerows, open air, smooth, rocky, etc. For flat landers like us, the hike up was more than "moderate", especially the last 1k feet, but we made it! What a great place to have lunch and see God's creation in 360 degrees! Just spectacular, jaw dropping! We spent a few extra minutes at the top with a couple who kindly took our photo, and then started the 4 mile descent to the Gothic trailhead (you don't actually end up in Crested Butte unless you walk along roads for more miles). The descent was a piece of cake. The fauna and scenery on Crested Butte side was very different - wildflowers still in bloom. Our ride was 15 minutes early. We did the entire trail in 6 hours 25 minutes, and we are not hikers per se and I am a bit out of shape! We encountered 43 other hikers, including one from our hometown of Nashville. We crossed 34 creeks and streams. We had a father-daughter trip and accomplishment together that we will never forget! See more..
