We visited the smaller tasting room on the river. The outdoor setting for tasting was nice with the view of the vineyard. Patrick was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was able to talk about the various grapes and their characteristics in the wine. As an estate winery, we knew that we were enjoying Grand Valley wines from the Colterris Vineyard and not imported juice from California. Colterris was by far the best of the 5 wineries that we visited. Their wines could easily compete with the best of California wines. A surprise was a delicious malbec rose. See more..
  12. 4.0 Plum Creek Winery (83 reviews)
    - Great Service and Great Wine
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Plum Creek Winery image
My wife and I stopped her a year ago while spending a long weekend tasting and buying wines in Palisade. Plum Creek Winery was one of the two best stops we made. They were busy, but service was excellent and we left with three cases of different dry red wines. Their Petit Verdot was a stand out that is not only good compared to other Colorado wines but also compares well to California wines. Earlier this week I stopped at Plum Creek Winery and bought a couple more cases of Petit Verdot. Once again, they were busy but the service was excellent and the young lady who waited on me insisted on taking the cases of wine out and loading them in my car for me...service that was truly above and beyond. - Great activity in between hikes
    Monday: 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Sutcliffe Vineyards image
Specialties - A hidden gem, offering daily wine tastings, special wine dinners, and western hospitality. This charming canyon vineyard boasts brilliant wines that express so perfectly the commitment and authenticity of the vineyards. History - Established in 1995. In 1990, John Sutcliffe bought Battlerock Ranch, initially to farm hay, raise livestock, and tend a small orchard. "We grow wine" sounds too simple a way to describe ourselves, yet it illustrates the importance Sutcliffe places on the farming of the vineyard. We plant, nurture, train and prune our vines: we harvest, sort, press and ferment our grapes, then finish and bottle our wine. Every element of the process is conducted here in our beautiful, isolated vineyard. Our first vines were planted in 1995, and by 1999 we had attained a producer's license. In 2001 we released our first vintage, the 1999 Merlot and 1999 Cabernet Franc. Both wines received a great reception; further vines were planted and flourished. See more..

My wife and I stopped by this winery around 4:00 on a Tuesday. The inside of the tasting room is very quaint and looks nothing like the outside. They do have tables with umbrellas, but the air conditioning inside was much better. Hopefully Davy will be there and if she is, make sure to start up a conversation with her. She is delightful to talk too. Now for the tasting... You will get 4 complimentary tastings and their wines are good. My wife and I thought the red wines were better than the white wines. 27. 4.5 Stone Cottage Cellars (35 reviews)
    - Wines from an altitude with a Colorado attitude.
    Monday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
    Stone Cottage Cellars image
Stone Cottage Cellars is a family business and an ongoing labor of love. Our adventure started in 1994, when we left the corporate world to begin a new and sustainable chapter in our lives that would allow us to raise our family in a rural community, connected to the land. This mission led us to the North Fork Valley, and a passion for fine wines led us to purchasing one of the highest elevation vineyards anywhere in the world. Being “connected” is something we sought out, but little did we know what that would actually involve, and how hands-on our new life would be. Over the years, we built Stone Cottage Cellars from the ground up, stone by stone, from the Stone Cottage, to the wine cellar, to the tasting room. Currently, we are building a larger home to house our growing family, with plans to add more winery space and another wine cellar at some point in the future. Our vision will never be complete, but our lives are more fulfilled. See more..

    Restoration Vineyards image
My wife and I stopped by around 3:45 or so and we wished we had stopped in earlier. This is a very nice place to sit and relax in the outside couches while tasting their wines. Gary, the owner, was busy building an outside patio area (which he is almost finished) and stopped what he was doing so he could talk to us about the winery, the wines, and answered whatever questions we had. They have a large area for outside tasting where they have live music from time to time on the weekends. The inside tasting room is small but very nice. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They do have a charge for the tastings. Oh...and their wines are great too! Make this a place to visit if you are doing a wine tour. See more..

I am not a professional with wine. I just drink what I like. Bret's new Rojo Del Mesa is a winner for me. I have always loved the Reisling, but I now have a new favorite. This family owned winery tucked away on a hill in a hollow (Happy Hollow? What a cute name) is a perfect place to stop in. Recently I invited a few friends to town. We bought a lunch at the Loading Dock Deli in Cedaredge and brought our lunch to the winery. We then were so surprised that they brought the tastings to the patio. Awesome. I was a hero for that one. Owner Marko Ćopić originates from Jastrebarsko, Croatia and brings 20 years of "Old World" and Mediterranean style wine making experience to Colorado, combining them with his modern wine making techniques to offer a vastly different wine tasting experience to the Colorado viticultural scene. Established in 2013. Owner Marko Copic handmade all of the furniture for the Purgatory Cellars Winery Tasting Room while living in Croatia and imported all of the furniture and all of his wine making equipment to Parker, CO. Purgatory Cellars Winery maintains a comfortable atmosphere for enjoying either an exquisite tasting, or just enjoying a glass of wine. Specialties Purgatory Cellars works hard to source most of our grapes from Colorado and to exploit the qualities of Colorado's unique climate and significant elevation features. Purgatory Cellars is working to bring specific qualities of grapes from the Western Slopes and Four Corners regions of Colorado to the Front Range. We are making and aging wine in Amphora containers with their origin going back about 5,000 years in ancient Greek and Roman history when Amphorae were used in the preservation and transportation of various products both liquid and dry, but mainly for wine making. The Amphorae are made from special clay in the country of Georgia and infused with bees wax and then baked in a wood fired kiln until the bees wax is completely infused in the pot. This wine making technique provides flavors and characteristics different from other aging methods. Drop in to see these beautiful containers that just arrived from overseas (Georgia). Although we had tried to visit this winery the night before, they were closed so I was thrilled when we were directed to the open tasting room in town by a guy at a table at the Sunday street fair. The woman working was not the very most helpful; maybe she wanted to close. They were only giving tastes of white and fruit wine, which I sampled. As more of a red drinker, I bought a bottle of red without having tasted it. The woman could not get my card to work for some reason but we managed with cash. 46. 4.5 Reeder Mesa Vineyards (8 reviews)
    - A day of wine tasting
    Monday: Wineries & Vineyards
    Reeder Mesa Vineyards image
Stopped in on a day they were closed, but the owner saw us and told us to come on in and I am glad he did. Every wine we tasted that day was excellent and he had a much larger selection of wines than most of the wineries in the area. His Petite Verdot and his Tempranillo are especially tasty. By the time we left Reeder we were carrying out a full case of wine. It is a little out of the way but If you are wine tasting in the area, be sure to make Reeder one of your stops, and take your credit card. See more..

The cider bar is a small room, and guests sit on picnic tables outside overlooking the orchard. The flight of ciders is inexpensive and tasty. I loved the peach cider. The cider makers are very informational and friendly. They will give a tour of the cidery and explain the process. They serve complimentary pretzels and peanuts. The drive to this place will feel as if you are on a country road going no where. Suddenly, the cidery and orchard appear and you are pleasantly surprised. They have 4 packs of canned cider that you can buy. See more..

They have moved their tasting room outside and are being super careful with Covid. Tastings are in disposal cups. Everyone super friendly and wore a mask. We stopped to just buy some wine to take home to our house sitter for taking care of our house while we have been out of town for four months. My husband did the tasting and I stayed in the car to limit our exposure. He bought a few bottles and I have already drank one. It is good wine. I can't wait to return post Covid and "experience" the place. See more..
  49. 3.5 Monkshood Cellars (6 reviews)
    - Rustic and tasty
    Wineries & Vineyards
Tucked away behind the main street through Minturn, this little winery serves up tasty wines in a rustic little oaken room lined with bottles. A tasting of four wines is only $4, and the selection varies daily. We tried a few different wines and shared our samples to get the widest variety, from a nice Riesling to a 10-year-old Cab Sauv. I liked most of the wines that I tasted. The grapes come from a variety of places, but mainly from the vineyards in the Grand Valley region. Nothing here blew me away completely, but I came out with a nice bottle of Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon and enjoyed them as well at home as I had at the tasting. See more..
