We visited this stable on October 4, 2022. There were 4 of us, sisters, all adults. The wranglers were very attentive, matched each of us with a horse that complimented our riding ability. They were also very informative and made it an enjoyable experience. The staff is excellent and this stable is not your everyday "nose to tail" riding experience. The views were awesome. See more..

    4-Eagle Ranch image
The sleigh ride and dinner was an absolute hit! We’d read so many reviews for different places, but the locals recommended 4 Eagle and it was perfect. Like stepping into a Hallmark Christmas movie! The food was delicious. The atmosphere superb. You could tell the owners took pride in seeing their guests have a good time. There was a live musician that was talented and very entertaining during dinner. The fire pit outside with s’mores was also a great touch. I recommend an earlier dinner reservation time if you can snag it before the sun goes down, because the ranch scenery is stunning. Would definitely do this again. See more..

    Snowmass Creek Outfitters image
We had an amazing time with Snowmass Creek Outfitters. The staff here know their stuff. We are beginner riders and they made sure we were comfortable safe and were having a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable she explained the history of the land, pointed out relevant landmarks and was just the most genuine, friendly person. She really made our experience so much more enjoyable with the level of her knowledge! We learned about irrigation, horses, weather conditions and local hiking spots, elevation and mountains in the area. Our horses (Scar and Yamika) were very well trained and they know what is expected of them. They seem to like working. I was so impressed at how well they took to the mountain side. It was obvious they are seasoned pros or as they are otherwise known as the “Cadillac’s” of the group! Thank you for taking the time to show us your special part of the world in Snowmass. We had an unbelievable time riding with you! See more..

We took the all day raft trip with Steve as our guide. There we’re only the four of us (2 adults and our two teenaged grandkids) on the adventure. And what an adventure it was! It truly could not have been better. Steve was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and a great companion. We learned so much about the area while floating or swimming down the beautiful and historic Colorado River. Safety was also number 1 with Steve. Amazing lunch provided at a beautiful spot to rest, jump in the river or hike to some old Native people sites. I would recommend this company for any river experiences. See more..

    Keystone Stables image
We stayed in Breckenridge and we're looking for a trail ride. I searched and found Keystone Stables. We drove over and booked a 1 hour trail ride. The stables are maintained well and the horses are well cared for. A special shout out to Ella for marching me to a great horse and her explanation of everything. Also to Tracey and Christine who accompanied us on the ride. It was a good vertical trail and they shared a lot of knowledge. I can't say enough good about all of the staff and facilities at the stables. Clean Johnny in the spots and eating facilities. We had the good fortune to be invited to join a staff lunch for a nominal fee and the food was wonderful. I look forward to another ride the next time I'm out there!!! See more..

    Yellow Pine Guest Ranch image
The Yellow Pine Guest Ranch near Cuchara CO is a wonderful place to spend a few, or even several, days. We have stayed at Yellow Pine in the past and our daughter and family stayed there just last week while we stayed at another nearby location. Yellow Pine provides horseback trail rides for both guests and non-guests. There is a lake for fishing, areas for hikes, a playground and I believe a chuckwagon meal from time to time. Yellow Pine is next door to the quaint village of Cuchara, and within driving distance of many area fishing lakes, Great Sand Dunes National Monument , and many other historical and recreational attractions. Prices are reasonable, cabins are clean and the staff most helpful See more..

    Bear Mountain Stables image
We loved our trail ride at Bear Mountain Stables! This spot is perfect for groups that have people with varying horse back riding experience. My mom, sister and I all are fairly comfortable riding horses and have had some lessons, while my dad's only experience is trail rides. The owner did a great job matching us with horses that fit our experience levels! My sister and I loved that our horses enjoyed trotting (which you don't see in a lot of trail riding operations)!! The owner and her helper Maddie were so friendly and made the trail ride even better with their great conversation and helpful tips as we rode. It really is such a beautiful area to ride in and we were lucky enough to see several deer and a fawn. I can't recommend this place enough, we will be back next time we are in Colorado! See more..

We had a group of six (3 moms, 3 kids 11 years old) who enjoyed a beautiful and relaxing morning horseback trip up the mountain and alongside the lake. The horses were well groomed and behaved. The trail bosses were attentive and friendly. And the mule deer were cooperative, standing still for photo ops along the trail!. Afterwards the husbands joined us for a delicious and huge pancake, eggs, etc. breakfast lakeside. 29. 4.0 Air Force Academy Stables (5 reviews)
    - Great horseback riding
Spent 2-3 hours Horseback Riding Tours
    Air Force Academy Stables image
The horses here are amazing; well-trained & spook-free. The fun thing is, they put you on a horse & turn you loose; you don't even need a guide! You can't really get lost; but you can end up spending more time on the trail than you had intended! Some trails are sandy; some a bit rocky. Gentle inclines. I'd rate them easy to moderate. One item of note: The stables are not in the visitor part of the Academy. You need to have a military ID or be with someone with a military ID to get on base & get to the stables. Another option is to find someone with a military ID who will meet you at the ID center (north entrance) & sponsor you for a day (this takes at least 1/2 hour; they will fingerprint you & make you a 24 hr pass). Both you and the sponsor must show up at the ID center during business hours. Recap: you need a military ID or drive in with someone who has a military ID or go with someone who has a military ID to the ID center & have them sponsor you for a pass. See more..

    Many Ponies Outfit image
We were looking for horseback Riding near Telluride, and were going to go to Ride with Rowdy, but he is closed on Sundays. With only a day's notice, I called Many Ponies ranch, and was able to book a 2 hour ride for the next day. Linda was our guide and was very friendly. She took our riding experience into account, and selected horses that had spirit that we could handle well. They limit their group size to 6 riders as well. The ride starts with learning western style riding commands, which the horses are used to. Also, a "cowboy jog" is practiced, which is a little like a canter but slower. Once out on the trail, Linda was full of information about the area, as they live there and have neighbors nearby. Part of the ride is on a public unpaved road, and part on BLM land on a trail. We saw evidence of cougers which the gov't was studying, but not much else save for some deer and rabbit. Many ponies also boards horses for private owners, so their rates are reasonable. I'd definitely recommend this place, its about 45 minutes from downtown Telluride, and on the way to Cortez. Its a nice alternative to Rowdy, if you just want to ride a horse without the theatrics. (Once your'e done riding, head to the Lone Cone in Norwood for some Excellent burgers.) See more..

I'm sorry to hear that some people had bad experiences with this outfitter. I have hunted with Russ twice in 2013 and 2014. I found Russ to be a fantastic guide. He works hard and puts you on animals. I got a great 6x6 in 2013 but I missed in 2014...my fault. Russ hunts hard and you'd better be in good shape. I think Russ does a great job though and I highly recommend him. See more..
