We did a Family Float today and it was fantastic. Allison was my boat’s guide and she was friendly, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about what she was doing. She gave great directions when needed. She also gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area. The information she gave us about the company - when we asked - makes me recommend them even more. I booked the zipline and rafting experience to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Our zipline guides were Brina and Tini and they made the trip so enjoyable. My husband is a little afraid of heights and they alleviated all fear and he had the best time! They were very thorough in explaining each of the different stations of the zipline experience and we felt very safe and secure the entire time. We then took an hour break in town and had a nice lunch before returning for the Upper Creek rafting experience. I had never been rafting and was nervous for the category of rapids we had chosen. Our guide Dagnar was beyond amazing! He was very reassuring, made sure we were prepared and even gave us an extra thrill while rafting. We could not have had a better experience!!!! Nice job Scenic River Tours! Thank you so much, my family of 4 (mom, dad, two teenage boys) had a blast and a really great memory to take back to NY with us. As beginners, we felt like we were in really good hands with Riley, our guide (thank you Riley!…and Colin, who delivered the initial safety talk, which was super clear and most useful when we did in fact need to do a high side!). We did the upper Taylor extender (3 hours). We were so glad to have done the extender option because we weren’t ready to get out after 2 hours. We felt like the stretch we saw was a good combination of thrills and gentler stretches with stunning views. We've rented a pontoon from the marina twice over 3 years and each time the boat was spotless and ready to go on time. The staff was very friendly and eager to help us out. Yes, it's expensive but I guess it's a short season. Their web reservation system is a little wonky and wish we could make a reservation earlier to help with our trip planning. Don't understand why we could not make a reservation farther in advance...makes no sense to the customer.See more..

This was such a memorable experience for us, I would highly recommend it to all in the area. Ranger-led expeditions are always so enjoyable and full of information. You start down the Pine Creek Trail, all 232 steps of it, down to the canyon floor and then it's a short walk along the Gunnison River to the Pine Creek Boat Dock. The boat departs at 10AM and they advise you to get there a bit early considering the hike. The fee was $24 per person and reservations are required in advance. The rangers do a quick introduction and safety presentation and then you load up onto the small pontoon boat for a 1 1/2 hour guided boat tour along the reservoir and into the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The rangers tell you all about the geology and history of the region and point out several points of interest including the Curecanti Needle and Chipeta Falls. Be sure to wear sunscreen and bring plenty of water. The hike down is fairly easy however the hike back up Pine Creek Trail can be a bit strenuous in the afternoon heat. I can't recommend this adventure enough, I love to look back on my photos from our trip.See more..

We were camping in the area and my 13-year old son wanted to drop by to get fishing flies. The owner, Michelle was awesome. Realizing that my son was a novice, she conducted a private mini-lesson and outfitted him with the knowledge and equipment he needed to go fishing on the nearby Platte river. I had the best three days of river fishing that I have had in a long, long time. Joel was the consummate guide. Picked me up every morning at our condo, had all the gear needed, provided excellent coaching and most importantly, put me on fish! We did a couple of days of walk/wade and one day of floating the Gunnison. I am pretty sure we were the first boat to float it this year. That was an awesome experience. The Bald Eagle was a bonus to the trip. I would recommend Gunnison River Guides to anyone that is headed to Crested Butte or anywhere in that area.
