Welcome to Pikes Peak - America's Mountain! The Pikes Peak Highway entrance is conveniently located 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs on Highway 24. The safe, scenic highway provides you the opportunity to enjoy Pikes Peak at your leisure. From the gateway at an elevation of 7,400 feet, you'll encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world as you wind your way through an alpine wonderland of scenic beauty, mountain reservoirs, beyond timberline, overtaking the clouds...All along the way to the 14,115 foot summit of America's most famous mountain. Along the way, you'll discover the North Slope Recreation Area, Crystal Reservoir Gift Shop, Historic Glen Cove Inn, and the Summit House. There are three lakes for fishing, picnic areas, hiking trails, and breathtaking views. Stop and watch one of our "Meet the Ranger" Interpretive Programs and learn about the history, myths, flora and fauna on the mountain. 4.5Bishop Castle(440 reviews) - A Must See and Experience Monday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Castles
Amazing! Unique! Beautiful! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. If you really don’t like heights, you might want to stay on the ground and take your pictures from there. Interior stone staircases are easier to tolerate (height wise) than the open mesh wrought iron walkways on the exterior. This is a free location, but I’d say it’s worth a donation while there. I recommend reading about Jim Bishop online before you go, it will help you appreciate more the work he’s done. I think I spent about an hour exploring. There are some nice finds in their little gift shop.See more..
4.5Main Street(429 reviews) - Stunning Views on Main Street Points of Interest & Landmarks
The mountains seem to rise from the edges of the city as you stroll Pacific Ave. Parking can be a bit tricky at peak but very doable most of the time. Lots of boutique shops, restaurants and...not surprisingly... real estate companies. Many original buildings remain, spruced up and now housing businesses rather than mining interests. Definitely worth a gondola ride if staying at the ski resort. Plan several hours, bring a credit card, and treat yourself to lunch and/or dinner.See more..

5.0Loveland Pass(283 reviews) - Beautiful place all year around Points of Interest & Landmarks
It was my second visit of this place during the winter. For the first time I have an opportunity to hike a little bit in this area. Because of the strong wind, there was not much snow on the nearby hills, so I was able to go up about an hour from the Pass. In lower, hidden areas, the snow was deep. The weather was fantastic: a little bit of clouds over the blue sky. The temperature was about 20 degrees of F(plus wind factor). It was fun for me to go up with my camera and take many nice photos. The parking there is very small, so I parked my car by the road. There was some "crazy" skiers, going down in this wild area. I strongly recommend this place no matter which time of the year is.See more..

4.5Fraser Tubing Hill(224 reviews) - An hour flies by when you are having fun! Monday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
This was a first time experience for our 9 and 12 yr old boys and they loved every second. Even a son who isn’t always sure about high or fast was thrilled with tubing. We recommend going at night for the added element of being in the “dark” though you can see what you need to see. The hill is high and slippery and an hour goes by fast. A must do!See more..

4.5Canyon View Park(138 reviews) - Clean, well maintained and fun park! Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks • Hiking Trails
Canyon View has a lot to offer the span from little ones to those in the golden years. We use the park for the playground, soccer games, and walks around the pond. We used the dog park for years until our dog could not follow direction and stole balls from fellow owners. The little park feels a bit large at times when parenting several kids. It's fine now that my kids are 3 and 5. However, when we go, my spouse and I end up taking 1 kid each and not seeing each other. I love that it's a clean environment. The facilities are well maintained. It's a great park in GV and I'm happy we have it as a resource.See more..

4.5Silverton Historic Downtown(134 reviews) - Funky village very in character with the late cowboy era! Speciality & Gift Shops • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Antique Shops
Silverton offers a great location for going to explore the mountains and all of the Off road passes, but it is also a great place to just explore. There are a number of buildings still in use from the early 1900s, and there are shops galore. Blair street used to be the brothel lane and they have kept toe look with the dirt streets and original fronts of many of the buildings. There is a museum which provides more about the town, and of course there is the steam train coming in which is a photographer's delight.See more..
4.5Step House(131 reviews) - Take your time and enjoy the Step house Points of Interest & Landmarks
All paved walking down to the step house rock dwelling and only one that you can go to on your own without a tour group so very highly visited. The walk up for many was a bit of a struggle so keep in mind on warm days of for some this might be a bit strenuous depending. However, just take your time no rush and bring water. It's very cool to see maybe not the biggest of the cliff houses but pretty cool to do. For us without a tour and some locations closed like Cliff Castle right now this was a very cool experience.See more..
4.5Historic Olde Town Arvada(128 reviews) - Old Town Arvada like a Local Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites • Neighborhoods • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Olde Town Arvada was a very enjoyable place to stay near during our recent vacation. The restaurants and live entertainment were exceptional. There’s a laid back vibe that seamlessly melds with the delicious eclectic menus. Shopping is fun and prices are reasonable. We felt far more like a local than a tourist. Denver is a 30 minute train ride so if your looking to visit the city this is a great place to stay and then come back to at the end of the day. We ended up spending far more time in Arvada than in downtown Denver but with the station only a short walk from our hotel the city was easy to access. The city is working on making the two main streets in Olde Town walking streets which makes the area even more walker friendly. Most places close relatively early but on weekends some stay open later. By 10:00 am most places are open. The coffee shops and breakfast establishments (Bread Winners highly recommended) open earlier.See more..

The Center is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization formed in 2010 for charitable and educational purposes. The Center’s visionary and Co-founder is Pueblo native, and Medal of Honor recipient Drew Dix. Along with its education focus, the Center hosts the “Portraits of Valor” gallery, an extraordinary collection of more than 150 portraits of our countries living Medal of Honor Recipients. The exhibit is one of two permanent displays in the country; the other is displayed in the Pentagon. The exhibit is a powerful example of the self-sacrifice of ordinary individuals who have served in harm’s way to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. Some guests choose to sit and reflect at the immense power of the portraits while others enjoy reading the inspiring quotes that accompany each portrait. The Center also includes a World Trade Center (WTC) Steel Memorial located at the Center’s entrance. Our second night in the Country (from Australia) grandparents suprised us with a fabulous night at the castle. We started with a tour with one of the awesome guides who was very informative. The history and stories of this place are just truely amazing and interesting and the views are just spectacular. We then spent the night with drinks and snacks in the marquee with some of the best entertainment by Frank Sinatra impersonator (who may we say was one of the best we have ever seen). Fun entertaining evening that we didn't want to end. What a fabulous start to our holiday back to visit family. Such great memories we will always have of this visit. 4.0Ludlow Massacre Monument Colorado(49 reviews) - An Important, Tragic Event in US Labor History Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
We knew about Ludlow and thought that we should pay our respects. Definitely worth the drive down from Colorado Springs, where we were staying. Even though we knew the history it was interesting to see the terrain and visualize the tent city and the events of April 1914. I wish we could give the UMW $$$ to spruce up the area around the monument, but at the same time there is something moving about the love and care the UMW took to commemorate this event and honor the dead.See more..

4.5The Blue Pig Gallery(37 reviews) - Amazing Art by western Colorado Artists Monday: Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
You might expect to find this kind of gallery in Santa Fe or Taos. Or in a museum. To find it this small wine and peach country town is a big surprise. Housed in an old building with high tin ceilings and creaking wooden floors, it features an incredible variety of media. It is hard to believe that all of the artists are local and take turns working. The artist on duty last week was drawing while we watched. Paintings, Lithographs, Photography, Batik, Encaustic, Ceramics Coffee painting... etc. High quality and reasonable prices. And the aroma from the bakery next door! Downstairs there is more artwork, including jewelry and greeting cards. The stone walls and dark beamed ceiling creates a great ambience. Even the bathrooms are filled with art.See more..

I found this memorial very moving knowing the history and coal mine disasters of the area. Several disasters were related to one particular company. It’s sad if you go to the cemeteries in the area and see a mass grave for the dead. Back then there weren’t a lot of safety rules. Unfortunately those men under aged, from a different ethic background or country felt this was a better life than where they came from. I particularly like the Canary in the cage.See more..
