Grab a coffee at one of the local coffee places and wander the river. The babbling water and beautiful foliage is very peaceful and relaxing. Plus, it allows you to cruise around Estes Park off the busy streets.See more..
5.0Vail Pass Path(190 reviews) - Wonderful bike trail Scenic Walking Areas
This is a very well designed trail which I highly recommend. Most people bike just downhill, but the up and downhill ride from Frisco to Vail (28 miles total) was worth the time, energy burned, and expense (bike rental). (The bike shop in Frisco next to the Walmart was excellent for that, btw). If they could only put up a little barrier (and clean off the gravel) between the short downhill section from the top of the pass (headed toward Vail) that goes right by the highway.See more..
4.5Hoosier Pass(163 reviews) - Morning hike Scenic Walking Areas
Beautiful views once you get on the trail. The trail is about 2.5 miles. Everyone suggests that you hike the loop counterclockwise go up past the gate on the right and follow the gravel road. If you just want a great view follow gravel rod to the left. When you can see the whole of blur lake and the dam go a couple of hundred yards and it seems like you can see the whole world! See more..
5.0Mohawk Lake Trail(92 reviews) - Crisp, Alpine Setting. Spent More than 3 hours Scenic Walking Areas
A great little trail just outside of Breckinridge. Reaching the lower lake took us up close to 1500 ft of ascent. The trail can get a little twisty and hard to follow at times, but with a steady trickle of other hikers, we found our way. The alpine lake is stunning and you get a lovely waterfall on the way as well. Take it all in and enjoy the crisp air and views as you move higher and higher.See more..
4.5Clear Creek Whitewater Park(77 reviews) - Magic at Christmas time! Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Monuments & Statues • Scenic Walking Areas
A walk along Clear Creek near downtown Golden at Christmas time is very special. It is beautifully decorated and all lit up...on both sides of the creek. Plenty of parking. Bring a flashlight for better exploration of displays on the historic buildings along the river down dirt paths. It gets dark, but you can avoid that area and stay on the sidewalk without a flashlight and still see everything.See more..
3.5Standley Lake Regional Park(31 reviews) - Great place for kayaking Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas
You can rent kayaks, canoes, and SUPs for a reasonable price. The only downside is that parking costs a fortune within the park, so if you don't mind walking 10 minutes, park in the lot off 100th Ave (on the north side). See more..
This scenic drive is beautiful. Besides the scenery, the small mountian town of Westcliffe is a nice place to spend a couple of hours. With the Sangre de Cristo mountain as a backdrop, the town has a cute downtown area with shops and resturants. You can also take a drive out to see the Beckwith Ranch located north of Westcliffe on Rt. 69. Don't miss Bishop Castle located on highway 165! Jim Bishop begin work on his "castle" in 1969 and has continue to work on it until this day. It is a very impressive roadside attaction. You really have to see it to appreicate it! Admission is free, but probably will want to make a donation.See more..
