Multi- Family of 12 from 2 years of age and up took the hour long trail ride! Great experience and loads of fun. Horses were so gentle and made the riding experience greater. It has been years since I have rode a horse and they made me feel secure. Safety was a top priority and they made sure the kids knew what to do and that they had fun. Highly recommend and would like to go on a longer trail ride next time See more..

    - GREAT 2-Hour Horseback Ride in the Mountains

    M Lazy C Ranch image
My wife and I had a PHENOMENAL time riding for 2 hours through the beautiful countryside surrounding the meticulously maintained M Lazy C Ranch! This well-staffed family-owned operation was just what we were looking for, as two rather inexperienced city slickers from the Midwest. Sarah, a college age daughter of the owners, was a superb, hard-working, and knowledgable guide. We highly recommend the M Lazy C for the whole family! See more..

Say hello to Mr & Mrs idiot. We went on this hike for our 33 anniversary. Good first. Saw a beautiful wild horse and 10 big horn sheep. Great views all the way. Please follow this advice. Get the COTREX app before you go, it saved us and is free and don’t need service. Our mistake was the going down part, we did the loop and as soon as we started down Hoodoo we knew we were in trouble. We were heading to coal canyon trail but the very steep downhill got us. When you hit Coal canyon trail BLM 300 it is sand so walking was very hard after the downhill. We ended up calling 911 for a ride out for our safety. Just be prepared with water and watch your miles. I calculated 13 miles in 6 hours. We ended up 18 miles as per fit bit in 10 hours. Not bad for 62 ish hikers. See more..

Wonderful to bike through always, beautiful to walk through any time but dead summer. Check out the bike paths that run through here all the way into old town. Get a bike map and enjoy this family friendly biking/walking path that runs from here and all the way around town. In sping/ early summer the birds and greenery and flowers . . . just heavenly with lovely spots to stop and sit. Just beware, no trees, just prairie, so don't plan on shade in summer. And beware the ocassional rattle snake on the path (why I prefer to bike it). See more..

The name says it all, Hidden Mesa. Was looking for somewhere close and not to popular to go on a sunny Colorado day. Mesa Rim Loop/Pleasant View Pass is definitely a "Hidden" gem. The trails are good for both hikers and mountain bikers alike and the views from the Mesa Rim Loop are awesome. Add another winner to my book. See more..

Excellent hike with kids. Views are great--you can see out toward Juniper Mountain and great views of the Elkheads and Black Mountain, Flattops, and out toward Steamboat . Hiking in June affords excellent opportunities for viewing flowering cacti, butterflies, and wildflowers. Great volcanic rock. Trail passes by some radio towers at the top. Generally very quiet and peaceful trail. Little to no shade. Occassional wildlife on trail. See more..

My wife & I went horse back riding with these folks in September of this year (2012). They were really nice people. My wife had never been on a horse in her life. They picked a real gentle horse named Sugar & off we went. We had a guide named Monica & she was really special to us. We took a 3 hour ride up over a mountain, through wooded areas over looking a lake. It was beautiful & we really enjoyed ourselves. The saddles & tack were in good shape, the horses were easy to ride, & our guide was really a sweet girl in her mid 20's. I would certainly recommend these folks if your interested in a pleasant horse back ride with great scenery & nice conversation. See more..
  9. 5.0 Wellington Ditch Trail (1 review)
    - Hike this during the day!
Spent 1-2 hours Equestrian Trails • Hiking Trails
    Wellington Ditch Trail image
We arrived mid-afternoon and had heard about the Montville Nature Trail which was somewhat shaded during the day. I don't see a listing for it on TA, but I will plug it here. It is a great easy trail to do and it leads to the Wellington Ditch Trail (also accessed from the campground). We didn't do the entire Ditch Trail, but went a little ways on it and it affords the most awesome views of the dunes from up high! Best of all, we saw only one other person on the trail. It's a great activity to do while the dunes are hot and/or busy. See more..
